What if DL offered a higher priority to AMEX Reserve holders. Not just the tie breaker they have now, but what if a reserve holder beat all others in their medallion level?

I would get the card... Seems to me it would boost those sales without costing much....

Perhaps I should go work for DL marketing...

WORST

IDEA

EVER.

Why should a HVC Delta commuter NEVER get upgrades because they have to use a corporate card? And why would they get a Delta Reserve AmEx and pay the annual fee when they have no need for the card? That is essentially a "stupid tax" of $500 or whatever the fee is just to get upgrades. And eventually enough people would have them that the upgrades would still be rare.

If that ever happened I wouldn't complain to Delta or whine on FT... I would just shred my medallion card and never fly Delta again.

It's not like its that much different from how things work now.... Just one more hoop to jump through(many have already taken the leap)

how bout still 100% SkyMiles but cut the LUT fares down to 25% MQM, the middle three fares to 50% MQM, YBM to 100%, and business keep at 150%. This would make it more meaningful to attain FO, thin out the elite ranks and make being "special" special again.

Is a FO who got there by flying only T fares really that loyal to you? As soon as you make him buy a U fare, he might bail if UA/AA offer a better fare. (and yes, I'd probably be one of those T fare flyers who somehow sneaks into FO).

This way the average joe who has no clue about the medallion program will still see that they are earning 100% SkyMiles and won't bother complaining.

:D. I must admit when I first saw the thread title, I thought to myself "here he goes again". Guess I was wrong.

I'm fascinated by all the carping about the AMEX MQMs, usually by FOs and GMs. The most one can earn with the Reserve card is 30K, correct? That means a DM with an AMEX Reserve is still flying at least 95,000 miles/year. And don't forget DL makes a fair piece of change selling those miles to AMEX so it's not like the card user is somehow scamming the airline.

This would cost them a large segment of business travelers who are required by corporate policy to buy the lowest fare classes.

I agree, which is why I have no issue with them adding a revenue qualification component, but i do not see them making that the "only" way to earn status...

SOOOOOO.......... what is the major objection? DD status at 175k. Make is something that a DM can elect to take or not take. Don't change any of the perks other than DD clear before DM. DD and DM would board at the same time - both have a 6 day window - both call the DM line when there are issues etc.... You can just choose to burn 50k MQMs for the right to clear before other DMs?

One can have both personal and business cards.

But it discounts BIS miles when anyone who can afford the annual stupid tax for carrying an AmEx with an annual fee can net as many miles as REAL frequent fliers earn in a quarter without setting foot on an airplane. FAKE AmEx MQMs water down the loyalty business travelers bring to Delta.

Many people have commented on holding back prior to the next level. In this scenario, many very high mileage customers may hold back at 174K and get status on another airline, roll over 49K and call it a day - costing DL revenue.

Too Good

Oh, and these very special folks should have a special seats and cabins. Nothing less than special, special for these DDs.

DaddyRabbit Apr 18, 2012 8:01 am

Quad D

And Deltilina sits next to you on each flight. Woo Hoo. Love it when she wags that no smoking finger.

What do the 5 D's get?

This doesn't sound like a very attractive program for 175,000 MQMs. Fly an additional 50,000 miles or lose 50,000 MQM rollover just to get upgrade priority on domestic flights? I don't think so.
