Just completed a same day turn MR as a GM - Upgraded on 6 of 6 of my legs!
1/14 - LGA-MEM - Upgraded at Window
1/14 - MEM-ATL - Upgraded at Window
1/14 - ATL-SJC - Upgraded at Window
1/14 - SJC-ATL (RedEye) - Upgraded at Window
1/15 - ATL-MEM - Upgraded at Window
1/15 - MEM-LGA - Upgraded at Gate

1/2: My 14 and 10 year old daughters flew unacommpanied from SEA to SLC and both got upgraded (I gifted Silver to my 10 year old).
1/15: My first flight of the year, SEA to SLC, and I got UG at gate, and already have the UG email for my return flight on 1/19. So far, 100%!

For a PWM based PM I was 36/39 in 2011 which I thought was great. In 2012 I'm 2/3.

All on low fares. We will see how the rest of the year goes, but I am thinking with the ridiculous inflation of elite ranks, I pretty much have to make diamond every year no matter what to keep a decent flying lifestyle.

Suprising that you are 0 for 2 on this route, I was upgraded roughly 8 times on this in 2011.

Trying to fly less this year
For 2011 as DM: I was 118/121
For 2012 as DM: So far I am 8/9 and no upg yet for 1/20 ATL-SLC, which means either GU or 8/10
Missed segment was SLC-ATL Mon 1/16 ended #1 of 62 on upg list

1/10 - DCA-ATL - confirmed 12 days out
1/10 - ATL-MEX - confirmed 5 days out
1/11 - MEX-ACA - not available - only coach on flight
1/15 - ACA-MEX - no upgrade, but operated by AM
1/15 - MEX-ATL - confirmed 5 days out

1/17 - DL2263 - JFK-LAX - T-fare as a lowly GM. 5/5 upgrade at the gate (always battlefield on this route).
2/3 this year on this route - both times on the bubble and both times thanks to expertflyer and SDC. Very lucky, but with some strategizing it can happen even without top-tier status (and avoiding ATL).
