+++++ for the DL employees that show respect while escorting those that gave all![/QUOTE]

Magnificent post! I'm a retired Naval Officer and I can't begin to tell you what those photos do for me. Thanks so much.

Thanks for posting this. It's a nice change from the bickering and bemoaning about lost benefits - that usually happens here.

I was on a flight recently where a fallen hero's remains were being repatriated. Upon landing, the Captain did not allow the door to be opened and made us all stay on board until the remains were offloaded (in this same type of ceremony). It was touching and reminded me how thankful I am.

Kudos all around.

There are several things that the Delta employees do that we don't hear about. For instance, almost every week, usually on Wednesdays, there is a Delta Military Charter flight that arrives in ATL. A large group Delta employees from all over the airport stop what they are doing and assemble in the International Arrivals area on Concourse E waving flags and welcoming home the Military personnel.

When it comes to the support of the troops, Delta employees are truly "best-in-class"!! ^

I hope to get a chance to join them in the next couple of weeks, and if I do, I will be happy to share the pictures. (I think I have gotten more Gate passes than Boarding passes this year!)

Thank you Delta!

Thank you very much

Thank you Delta and thank you very much for making this post.
I was not aware about that.

Is there other way we can express our gratefulness other then "thank you"?
Like an account to make donation maybe? I realize that those great Volunteers do not do this for money but maybe we just can contribute to their coffees or warm meals or anything else they might need.

Merry Xmass and Great Holiday Season!

Robert

Touching, heartbreaking, moving - kudos to the volunteers and those soldiers that provide the escorts. Total class.

I see these flag painted carts far too often from the Sky Club. As someone who lost a family member in Iraq, it always makes me very pleased to know that Delta does this.

atldlff ... thank you for posting this and thank you Delta folks for your patriotism ... it reminded me of an experience I posted about last year. Here is a short except from a letter I sent to Delta:

"I was on flight 1075 from RDU to ATL yesterday (12/12/10) and was so moved by what I witnessed, that I wanted to let Delta know of my appreciation. Flight 1075 had the privilege of transporting one of our fallen heroes on his final journey home to Texas from Afghanistan. I witnessed the loading of this hero along with all of the other passengers viewing it from the RDU concourse adjacent to the gate. The honor and reverence that was shown by all involved was so incredible and moving. The pilot of flight 1075 expressed over the PA some very genuine and appropriate words and I was honored to be a part of the entire experience. I am the father of a US Marine on active duty and am always amazed at the patriotism, attention and honor that Delta and all your front line flight folks show to our traveling military. The pilot told us the name of this fallen soldier but I was caught up in the moment and did not write it down. Thank you again for what you all do and not being afraid to express it to your customers."

PS ... the one thing that impressed me the most was the behavior of all the passengers on this flight. When we got to ATL, the pilot asked that all remain seated until the military escort left the plane ... and when the "bell rang", not a person moved until that happened. I was seated in 4B and looked to the back of the plane, and did not see one person move until the pilot released us. We were a few minutes late to the gate so I know there must of been some tight connections ... but absolutely no one moved!
