Upgrade question
 

I am silver medallion level. How soon will I be notified that my upgrade request went through. For example, for the first leg of my trip tomorrow I've already been notified its gone through but nothing yet for the second. I checked the avail seats for the second and there are still 2x first class seats avail

If there are only 2 seats left it is unlikely you will get the UG in advance. You have a shot at the gate but I am guessing there are GM's, PM and maybe even DM's in front of you. Keep your hopes low on the second leg.

U've gotta wait for the gate, only 'v' fairs get upgraded at the window. Good luck

The good news for the OP is zone 1 boarding for both flights.

A fare only becomes 'V' after the upgrade.....

The OP can be hopeful for an upgrade only on a holiday weekend. DL is holding many seat to the last day in hopes of selling them this weekend.:rolleyes:

Correct but if you are saying there are only 2 seats left there is no way they will release them for upgrades.

Just as an FYI: Not all FC seats go to upgrades. Just because there are open seats does not mean the required inventory (V) is available. In fact, there are likely GMs, PMs or even DMs who did not get a seat on their sweep who are in front of you.

Update to this:

On my delta app I am now able to view the upgrade list. It says 4 seats avail in first but there are only two names under there and they say standby Next to their names under the upgrade section. guessing my chances are close to zero?

My upgrade for Tuesday just came through about 45 mins ago. To bad its ashort flight DTW to BWI. Oh well always enjoy the extra room :^

That's only based on people that have checked in. As more people check in, your name is likely to drop on the list.

As FO, I have only lost 1 upgrade out of 7 this year. Hmm.

I lost an upgrade today on DL 200 LAX-ATL. I was the next on the list to be upgraded. I talked with the GA and she told me one person had not boarded in First and if they don't by the 15 minute mark the seat is mine. Then the other GA overheard her and told me that is not the case as the computer shows 3 more ahead. I told her I am number 1 on the list according to the FIDS. She told me to go take my seat. the GA then walks on the plane and she was looking for the 3 that were supplosedly ahead of me and they were already upgraded. So, instead of finding me (she was looking right at me), she pages a Delat pilot and upgrades him from Coach instead.

Somebody posted a very similar story about this happening on an AA flight. This is not acceptable at all, as I'm sure there were other elites below you on the list as well. You should be sure to complain to Delta, so that agent is reprimanded. We're not medallions so that staff can reap our upgrade benefits, which are getting harder and harder to come by as it is.:td:

I am not so sure. This could have been the GA doing it "right". The big issue with DL and Gate UGs is that if you board you fall off the list. While the OP may have been #1 in the GIDs the GA may know that DM had already boarded and pulled that person up. The problem is there is policy (if you board you fall off) and there is what many here think is the right way (go get the higher level elite who boarded).

Until DL does it one way consistently we cannot know if Shena made an appearance.

Hmmm, I actually did not know that. So the whole list boarded, so there was essentially no list, so she upgraded the pilot. Interesting.
