BE to BOG

I am flying next month in BE on a 737-700 (ATL-BOG then returning BOG-JFK) and I have never experience BE on a 737.

What should I expect? E.g., are the seats similar to DOM's F? How about food?

3Cforme Aug 3, 2011 8:39 am

The entire delta 737-700 fleet has a front cabin with domestic F seats, AVOD, and AC power. There is no intercontinental business class seating on this aircraft.

How about food? Is it BE level?

No. Domestic first class level.

For ex-JFK, you may want to read these comprehensive posts on the Intl Business experience to BOG:

Are you sure BOG would be the same domestic first class level? My experience with Atlanta-Honduras flights (not even South America) has always been a tad more upgraded service than regular domestic first class. Mimosas, champagne, oj, etc for pre-boarding. Meals are nicer than a domestic f-class lunch/dinner. And thats for a 3 hour flight. BOG would be significantly longer.

Lol not even close to true. The meal service is BE lite....nothing like domestic first. On the flights ex-USA they usually have 2-3 main courses off the BE menu (ie surf and turf, chicken breast or pasta) and warm nuts as well as the appetizer plate (last month was duck with coos coos) and the ice cream sundaes.

On the overnight return to JFK it is a sandwich after takeoff and breakfast before arrival.....again off the international BE menu. And before departure they do the champagne, Oj or mimosas. They also have a few extra wines. So this is nothing like you would find servicewise in the domestic US. The seats are the only thing that are domestic F both to and from JFK and ATL. 73W is used on JFK and typically the 75X on ATL.

Is this true?

i agree that the food is better than domestic F, but it always seemed to me inferior to that of BE...and not just because of a lack of choice, but the actual dishes.

(and i've never been offered an ice cream sundae; only chocolate mousse cake!)

First, thanks to all for the great input.

For my flights which are in in mid-September DL shows 737 both ATL-BOG and BOG-JFK.

Upgrade possibilities for Medallions?

Funny thing is that my coach ticket shows "Upgrade Requested" I thought this route was NOT eligible for comp upgrades. Have they changed this or is it just a fluke?

Route is UDU eligible

(there are threads that already cover this topic; "search" is your friend)

Yes, it sure seems pretty domestic first to me. I'm speaking specifically ATL-BOG not JFK-BOG which is slightly longer. Maybe JFK-BOG gets upgraded catering but ATL certainly does not. ATL-BOG is blocked at roughly 5 hours but flight times are typically just over 4 hours: something in the 4:05 to 4:15 range normally.

Very true. Don't believe me? Here's the proof. These two photos are of the dinner service on DL443 ATL-BOG in mid August. Note the tray set-up with pre-plated salad and dessert. Note the beef short rib main course; I've had that on domestic flights. The other main course choice was, I believe, either pasta or chicken.

Those pics are the same food that is catered to BE on international flights. It is BE-lite because they don't serve the shrimp or duck appetizer and don't have the dessert cart . You do not get a salad and beef tenderloin or ribs domestically. Have you flown BE TATL or long haul? I had those same ribs in long-haul BE in Aug. Here is a breakdown for you of different meal services provided by DL.

Long-haul BE:
-PD Champagne, Orange Juice, Mimosa, Heineken
-Warm nuts (OK OK sometimes not warm) with selection of your favorite beverage
-Appetizer (current month is duck with coos coos)
-Salad (same as the one you pictured)
-Bread (just like what you had except more options on long-haul)
-Main course (Chicken, Steak, Pasta, Halibut or fish entree or cold plate....usually 4 options, some routes only 3)
-Dessert cart (ice cream sundaes, Chocolate tart/cheesecake, fruit and cheese plate)
-Dessert wines (port or dessert wine)

BE-Lite:
-PD Champagne, Orange Juice, Mimosa, Heineken
-Warm nuts with selection of your favorite beverage
-Salad
-Bread
-Main course (usually only 2 options chicken or steak...sometimes pasta too)
-Desert included on original plate (usually lemon tart, chocolate cake or pear tart)....some flights have ice cream sundaes and fruit and cheese options but it seems DL has cut back on this recently
-Dessert wine

Domestic First:
-No PD Champagne, just regular PDB service
-Fruit Cup
-Sandwich or Salad main
-Chips or Crunchy breadsticks
-Dancing Deer Brownie
-Only Red or White wine

Don't have any food at home (just got back from a trip)...and just looking at this is making me real hungry

Looks like 7-11 is going to get some business now, Herb687 :)

(btw, looks like BE domestic trancon=BE lite)
