Two Delta Jets Collide at Logan - Developing
|
Those poor DL-Connection CRJ-X planes!
First the tail totally mangled by the AF A380 in JFK. Now another one mangled by a big-brother 767 in BOS. |
Looks like the 767's winglet is stuck in the CRJ's tail!
|
yikes....
Glad I decided to spend the afternoon eating cannoli in the North End instead of a Delta flight tonight.....Sometimes taking some time to relax has additional unexpected benefits!
|
Hopefully everyone is ok.
One less CRJ... Oh darn. |

Boston.com is reporting the 767 is the BOS to AMS flight...no word on the RJ yet.

Indeed, I hope everyone is okay, but this appears to be a CRJ-900, so first class! Why couldn't this have been a CR7? We need less of those.

Strange... they updated the article to say it was a Comair flight, but you can see the ASA logo in picture 1. |
It is a ASA Aircraft... BOS-RDU flight.. CRJ900...

Geez though... took two planes out, and its not like there are extra 767s in the BOS area for that flight. Wonder whats going to happen with the equipment. EDIT - Statement just released from Delta: "While taxiing out for departure, the wing from Flight 266 from Boston to Amsterdam made contact with the vertical stabilizer of ASA Flight 4904, also on departure from Boston to Raleigh-Durham. Flight 266 returned to the gate and passengers deplaned without incident. Passengers on ASA Flight 4904 deplaned and were transported by bus to the terminal. Both aircraft have been removed from service for inspections and passengers are currently being reacommodated on other aircraft" |
just saw it on the news ... not good at all.
|
DL267 from AMS-BOS for Friday July 15 is also canceled.

Horrible name. |
On some airline message boards, for example, postings expressed a combination of surprise, disbelief and discontent regarding the change, along with satirical takes on the name. If we tell them to get rid of their CRJs, will they listen to that too? |
767 vs RJ, yeah I'd rather sit in that 767...
|
"Two Delta Jets Collide" makes it sound as though it might have been a midair collision. Perhaps one of the mods can de-sensationalize the thread title.
|
So how much compensation??? Given DL give out like 25k for a short delay I'd say there should be a bunch of new mileage millionaores ;)

First question before asking about mileage compensation... |

The Boston.com story also has the ATC audio avaiable - left hand side of the page, near the start of the article

Gotta love the local Boston media.
Last night it was "collided on the runway". This AM it was "Regional Jet struck by 787" At least they put some (if not all) of the passengers up at the Seaport Hotel (nice place), instead of one of the local dumps. |

Sort of OT, did anyone else see the trailer park kettle that was interviewed? He said something like this..."it was the worst experiences of my life, I will NEVER fly Delta again!"... Contrast that with another interview with a guy in a suit, who claimed everyone was calm and that the FA and other crew were great, and that DL had reaccommodated them. Seemed very happy.

Friday's DL 266 BOS-AMS is listed on time.
Not clear where the 767 is coming from. Could not find from ATL, JFK, DTW to BOS |
(1) now we know that Air France Airbus A380 isn't the only one who can do somethign like this
(2) Boeing makes a better, tougher plane, because the 767 managed to brake the RJ's tail, which the Airbus A380 couldn't do (3) when selecting seats on RJ flights, do NOT choose seats in the rear :p |

Trailer park kettle??? So a person's credibility is based on his attire? You can dress a monkey in a Brooks Brothers suit, but it's still a monkey.
