Two Delta Jets Collide at Logan - Developing

http://www.bostonherald.com/news/reg...ome&position=0

Looks like the RJ took the brunt of it...

SamuelS Jul 14, 2011 6:28 pm

Those poor DL-Connection CRJ-X planes!

First the tail totally mangled by the AF A380 in JFK. Now another one mangled by a big-brother 767 in BOS.

skidv25 Jul 14, 2011 6:33 pm

Looks like the 767's winglet is stuck in the CRJ's tail!

rwethereyet850 Jul 14, 2011 6:36 pm

yikes....

Glad I decided to spend the afternoon eating cannoli in the North End instead of a Delta flight tonight.....Sometimes taking some time to relax has additional unexpected benefits!

Crazyhotelguy Jul 14, 2011 6:37 pm

Hopefully everyone is ok.

One less CRJ... Oh darn.

It was a CR9 according to the picture... N132EV.

Indeed, I hope everyone is okay, but this appears to be a CRJ-900, so first class! Why couldn't this have been a CR7? We need less of those.

sweeper20 Jul 14, 2011 6:55 pm

Boston.com is reporting the 767 is the BOS to AMS flight...no word on the RJ yet.

CR7s have first class now too. It's the CRJs that need to go.

I *think* it's 4904, operated by ASA. It's the only CR9 that has a departure time near there. (650pm) actual departure (706) and DL.com shows the status as "Awaiting Takeoff" Flightaware delisted 4904 for 7/14.

Strange... they updated the article to say it was a Comair flight, but you can see the ASA logo in picture 1.

flightattendantsteve Jul 14, 2011 7:14 pm

It is a ASA Aircraft... BOS-RDU flight.. CRJ900...

SureJet.

Surely to hit another Jet.

OopsJet

rylan Jul 14, 2011 7:55 pm

Glad everybody is ok.

Geez though... took two planes out, and its not like there are extra 767s in the BOS area for that flight. Wonder whats going to happen with the equipment.

EDIT - Statement just released from Delta:
"While taxiing out for departure, the wing from Flight 266 from Boston to Amsterdam made contact with the vertical stabilizer of ASA Flight 4904, also on departure from Boston to Raleigh-Durham. Flight 266 returned to the gate and passengers deplaned without incident. Passengers on ASA Flight 4904 deplaned and were transported by bus to the terminal. Both aircraft have been removed from service for inspections and passengers are currently being reacommodated on other aircraft"

cfischer Jul 14, 2011 7:58 pm

just saw it on the news ... not good at all.

rylan Jul 14, 2011 8:03 pm

DL267 from AMS-BOS for Friday July 15 is also canceled.

Wow. Thanks. Looks like FlyerTalk strikes again ;););)

Horrible name.

javabytes Jul 14, 2011 9:28 pm

On some airline message boards, for example, postings expressed a combination of surprise, disbelief and discontent regarding the change, along with satirical takes on the name.
Bahahahahahaha

If we tell them to get rid of their CRJs, will they listen to that too?

mnredfox Jul 14, 2011 11:28 pm

767 vs RJ, yeah I'd rather sit in that 767...

vasantn Jul 15, 2011 12:10 am

"Two Delta Jets Collide" makes it sound as though it might have been a midair collision. Perhaps one of the mods can de-sensationalize the thread title.

ma91pmh Jul 15, 2011 4:48 am

So how much compensation??? Given DL give out like 25k for a short delay I'd say there should be a bunch of new mileage millionaores ;)

If I had used SWUs or mileage UGs for the BOS/AMS flight and I was reaccomodated on other flights would I still get my B/E seat(s)???????

First question before asking about mileage compensation...

Being a CR9, Zi must retract my original statement. Such a shame. Why couldn't it be a crj? Life is so unfair:):)

The Boston.com story also has the ATC audio avaiable - left hand side of the page, near the start of the article

Out of my Element Jul 15, 2011 6:33 am

Gotta love the local Boston media.

Last night it was "collided on the runway". This AM it was "Regional Jet struck by 787"

At least they put some (if not all) of the passengers up at the Seaport Hotel (nice place), instead of one of the local dumps.

Sort of OT, did anyone else see the trailer park kettle that was interviewed? He said something like this..."it was the worst experiences of my life, I will NEVER fly Delta again!"... Contrast that with another interview with a guy in a suit, who claimed everyone was calm and that the FA and other crew were great, and that DL had reaccommodated them. Seemed very happy.

To the first guy, I say go back to WN!:). (I hear some of their planes have sun roofs now!:)

There were no other injuries."

To quote the classic film "Friday":

Aw, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God. God. Oh, I'm hurt. Oh, my neck, my back, my neck and my back. Oh, I want $150,000, but we can settle out of court right now for twenty bucks.

I'd settle for life Diamond status :p:D

zman Jul 15, 2011 10:22 am

Friday's DL 266 BOS-AMS is listed on time.
Not clear where the 767 is coming from.
Could not find from ATL, JFK, DTW to BOS

ToniCounter Jul 15, 2011 11:15 am

(1) now we know that Air France Airbus A380 isn't the only one who can do somethign like this

(2) Boeing makes a better, tougher plane, because the 767 managed to brake the RJ's tail, which the Airbus A380 couldn't do

(3) when selecting seats on RJ flights, do NOT choose seats in the rear

:p

Of course they are -- I'm surprised that there are not any additional claims of traumatic distress. Wonder if maybe the person complaining was sitting next to a lawyer??

Trailer park kettle??? So a person's credibility is based on his attire? You can dress a monkey in a Brooks Brothers suit, but it's still a monkey.

You must be someone special.
