Original coach ticket was $595 booked a month or so ago. I had grabbed free C+ seats on 3/4 segments and was in 21A (the exit row with no seat in front on the 737-900) -- Monday A319 MSN-DTW, 757-300 DTW-SFO, and Friday 737-900 SFO-DTW and A319 DTW-MSN. I may try to SDC the home bound flights to get home earlier and avoid the 737-900.

It is hilarious how some justify this kind of spend (per hour?).

Hey, just because you earn less than $12/hr, it doesn't mean there aren't other people who can only be productive in first class, and easily justify billing that back (and more) to clients! ;)

The fact that these are business-heavy routes and times and includes a flight on the worst mainline coach aircraft in the fleet (739), that makes the deal even better. I'd jump on it. I looked, and there's no MSN-JFK flight. If there was, the deal would be even better considering that the destination is SFO.

Internet Booking vs Phone App

Has anyone noticed receiving different FCM offers when booking via phone application versus booking online?

I was recently booking an international trip and found distinctly different FCM offers on the same exact route/fare when booking on my phone and booking online.

Hello all,

I'm new to this thread and FCM, and I've read a lot of pages in this thread, but can't seem to find the answers...
I've booked a flight through delta.com from AMS-JFK-SDQ (L-fare, booked C+) in the end of February (no Skymiles status):

1. Do I need to have my skymiles number connected to the trip to be invited for a FCM? Or can I leave my flying blue no in my booking?
2. When should I start checking online/app for FCM offers? I can't see any now, but will they start appearing days in advance? Weeks?
3. On the way back (PUJ-JFK-AMS, V-fare, booked C+) the last flight from JFK-AMS is operated by KLM. Does Delta do FCM offers for those flights too?

I believe having the international segment on the itinerary will "disallow" FCM for the JFK-SDQ and PUJ-JFK segments.

No, there is already enough obfuscation when booking via a single mode of contact.

Just booked a RT flight to BIS. When making the reservation, the differential between coach and FC for the flights I selected was $201 RT.

When I went to select seats, the FCM offer was $151 RT.

Went back to check a dummy reservation, and the advertised differential was still $201.

Repeating an analogy that I have used before... FCM is like haggling in a 3rd world bazaar. The farther you walk away from the merchant, the lower the price becomes.

They've gotta meet the promise they made to the Street with respect to making 70% of the FC seats paid seats.

Interesting. I was checking prices online for a trip to St Lucia and found the fare/schedule I wanted and was offered ~$200 to upgrade to FC. Two days later I checked the same fare/schedule on my phone and the FCM offer was ~$300. The next day, I went to finally book it online (wanted to use new CC, so I had to wait) and the original ~$200 FCM offer appeared again.

If I were to be excessively generous, I would suggest that both of our experiences are part of a cleverly crafted plan to probe the market place for price sensitivity variations linked to which booking conduit is used.

But, instead, I'll just suspect that this is a DL IT issue.

;)

So international/intercontinental flights do not qualify for FCM offers?

Would be helpful to call Delta to see if I can get an offer for the two flights from JFK-SDQ and PUJ-JFK?

The problem I have personally have encountered if it is on one PNR. For example, I've had AMS-CDG-MIA-BOS-AMS in the past. MIA-BOS was not eligible for FCM and it also was NOT eligible for SDC to earlier flights (etc.). With regard to SDC was told it has to do with being part of an international itinerary. I believe it's the same situation with FCM (but, I have never really examined it personally). Going forward, I now would book the USA/domestic segments separately. In this case, the MIA-BOS as just a one way. In many cases, since USA/domestic fares are the same pricing one way as roundtrip or part of a multi-city itinerary it was a fine work around. Of course, YMMV with regard to specific routings and fare basis.

Ok. Interestingly, I called delta customer service, and they told me that it mighy be

- the fare type (L on outbound, V on inbound), or
- pecking order, since I don't have Skyteam/FB status.

Does that make sense to you?

Advice was to wait until checkin-in and see if anything will be available then. What do you think?

All I know, is that when I have had a multi-city ticket starting in Europe and ending in Europe my USA Domestic segments were never eligible for FCM or SDC. Now granted, this only happened a few times; so my sample is very small. I usually buy discounted J fares; and I believe these might have been M-fares I upgraded (the transatlantic portions) using miles (leaving the domestic segments in economy class eligible for Medallion Upgrades....)

Ok, thanks for the info.

I guess I'll just wait until checkin to see what happens. I have a KLM booking no for the last flight. I'm curious if KLM will offer me an upgrade for that segment, or if Delta will give me an offer for any of the other segments.
