By the way, if you're going to HND then connecting to an intra-Asia flight ex-NRT, you'll need the 20-hour layover to travel between the 2 airports.

@mike_play... Completely agree. But I have to question why their booking system even schedules 20 hour layovers at point B when you input origination A and destination C? Who does that? If I want a stopover I'll use a multi-leg booking engine.

The conclusion I'm forced to is that they do it to devalue Skymiles. They raised the SE Asia award from 60k to 80k and now at 80k you can only find 50 hour itineraries which means a real 25 hr itinerary is 130k.

If my Delta business is worth half what it once was to them then leaving is just the logical conclusion.

I don't hate Haneda. It's just a better thread title.

To the guy that hates CVG, next time you're in town get a little Graeter's ice cream and Skyline Chili and it'll be just fine.

Not the city! The airport. I enjoy a Four way once a month :D

1. I like Haneda, but only for flying in or out of Tokyo not for connecting.

2. Quit SlyMiles and fly AA or UA....much better programs for International FFs. No question full stop.

3. My mother always tell the story of how during WWII, milk and (ice cream) were rationed so she got her family doctor to write her a prescription for Graeter's. Never had it myself, but hear tell that it's very good.

The DL booking engine is really quite defective for international fights. It seems that you tend to get 20-ish hour layovers on international flights when you can get a lower fare if one of the sectors is on the next day of the week. It's trying to find people the cheapest fare, but usually it's only $20 difference. I've found the best antidote is to use multi-city to force a connection at the hub of your choice with arrival and departure the same day.

Exactly! Although most probably don't know what that means :(

Last November, I flew PEK-HND-SFO, and was quite impressed. Leaving PEK in the evening was great, as was the approach over Tokyo Bay. Plus, when I arrived in San Francisco, I was wide awake. My only mistake was tacking on an SFO-BOS red eye the same night; that was torture.
