Official Delta Mileage Ticket Exchange Between Flyertalkers Thred
If this has been posted before or if it is not possible to do, I apologize and please disregard.
I have a trip coming up this summer to Athens that I was able to get at the low level. I got to thinking about what I would do with this ticket if I decided that I no longer wanted to travel. With the amount of effort that goes into searching for one of these things, I am definitely not just letting it go to waste.
I thought about coming up with a thread in which people can post itineraries that they have (at attractive mileage rates) that they no longer would like to use. If someone else can use these tickets on the specified dates, the original passenger can put a note in their PNR that XXX will be calling, to refund your ticket, and let XXX buy it at the low level.

Sorry, but I have no confidence in the notion that such a call will cause Delta to put the flights back into Low award inventory, certainly not on 'full' flights.

I totally agree with 3Cforme. One person's cancellation of an award ticket hardly guarantees that it will be placed back into airline award inventory. And then you have the differentiation between availability for medallions vs. general members.
Nice idea, but it won't work in practice much of the time.

i am not saying put it back into low inventory.
it would essentially be a name change or transfer/exchange of the ticket.
i was thinking that if i called and said 3cforme is going to be calling in and i want to refund my ticket and let him buy it, they would do it.

Even when you want to change the name of a ticket it has to be cancelled and rebooked. Trying to change it to someone else is less likely. As fti mentioned, the airlines may or maynot put it back in low inventory as that depends on their current sales and not the sales data for that flight when they initially put it on sale.

I know it seems to defy logical thinking, but Delta's official response to just changing the name on the ticket is "It cannot be done." The ticket must be cancelled and re-issued, likely incurring a change fee/milage redeposit fee
