It also ended up being a PITA last night when I was asked for an ID with a credit card purchase. Luckilly the cashier was willing to accept my costco Am Ex that had my photo on it as acceptable ID.

Assuming this is a VISA, merchants are not allowed to deny a sale based on your refusal to show ID. Most stores don't know this policy but ignorance is no excuse.

It was a visa actually. I wasn't aware of the policy though.

I actually appreciate it when they ask for ID.

MSP-TOL is dropping to 1x/day CRJ effective next month. Should be loaded into the schedules this weekend (it's already in the OAG). Doesn't sound promising at all for Toledo...

The one flight a day was already loaded into delta.com's schedule on Sunday afternoon when I was looking at flights.

I agree it doesn't sound promosing at all for TOL. I wish they would give TOL/ATL another shot. If DL pulls out of toledo they may as well shut the passenger terminal down.

For anyone lamenting the passing of DTW - TOL, here's a little video of a similar flight path (albeit on a 757 en route to ATL), with good views of Toledo and Oregon

I've been on TOL-DTW and TOL-ATL flights. The TOL-DTW was sometimes better if someone gave you a ride or you left your car at home and took a taxi. Timewise, it didn't save anything but the journey to the airport was more predictable because of the short distance. (Likewise, you have to plan for delays if travelling to LAX from Orange County but if you travel from Amarillo, TX, you can pretty much count on no traffic jams to the airport).

With TOL-DTW, occasionally the airfare to a city would be less to TOL than DTW.

FNT-DTW-XXX could sometimes be $100 cheaper then DTW-XXX. Always seemed to look at FNT rather then TOL, being in southern Oakland County. Odd, isn't? An extra segment, and less money... :)

That used to almost always be the case. Sadly, I have seen a total reversal of that. Could just be the routes I look at. But an extra segment and extra 500 miles is always worth it. (TIMEwise, I'm about equidistant from DTW and FNT in South Central Macomb county, though actually closer to DTW mileage wise)

Gone

Was on tonights news that Delta is discontinuing all TOL service in a couple weeks. Was no surprise since they were only doing a flight in the morning each way so it was pretty much impossible for me to use TOL unless I was taking a west coast red eye home connecting in MSP.

They may as well close the passenger terminal. The only regular flights they have are 3 american eagle flights to ORD and a few flights a week on alligent and another carrier to florida and vegas.

I really wish they would have kept the TOL/ATL and TOL/DTW routes

Wow...huge change from the 7X to CVG and 3X to ATL on the CRJ or CR7. That's a shame.

Delta discontinued those two routes before the NW merger. They dropped ATL down to 2 trips a day and then discontinued it and dropped cinci down to a few trips a day and then pulled out of TOL altogether. They discontinued the old TOL/DTW last year and replaced it with two TOL/MSP routes and then droped it down to one trip each morning. I used to take Delta a lot when they had the 6:55 pm TOL/CVG route for weekend trips since most cities I wanted to go to had late enough connections and it was very convenient. I am surprised any food vendors or car rental places are willing to pay rent at TOL with only 3 american flights a day. That's only around 150 passengers and many of them aren't going to require a rental.

Sad..though not surprising. I flew this home from Arizona before Christmas from college, back when there were 2x MSP-TOL, flew the 9:00pm flight, maybe 15 people on board. Then half way through Christmas break they changed to 1x daily from the 7am to 11:30am flight. I had to change my flights because my plane to PHX left while I was taking off in TOL :p . There were more people on that flight (maybe 20-25), but still nowhere to see it sufficient to operate and make money.

In my personal opinion I think ATL-TOL might me more successful...

According to the article in USA Today the passenger load was under 25% so it isn't surprising at all. But I am also not surprised by the low passenger load, the only way it would pay someone to have flown Delta out of TOL with that schedule was if MSP was their original destination (and even then I wouldn't want to pay for a hotel and fly out the next morning I would rather just fly into Detroit since it was a morning flight) or people going to the west coast and taking a red eye home and connecting. My concern would also be having only one flight a day and having an irrops situation, one flight a day and you are stuck there another day or hope Delta would fly you to DTW and provide ground transportation back to TOL.

I used to take the TOL/ATL and TOL/CVG routes a route (ATL was my final stop on the ATL routes and I always connected in CVG) and there were several times the CVG route was in an oversell and those cases I would always volunteer if I was on an afternoon flight. I would get a $300 voucher and ground transportation to Detroit and be put on a direct on NW and get there usually at an earlier time than I would have on my delta flight. One time I was flying to BHM and was routed TOL/CVG/ATL/BHM and they were oversold. I got a $300 voucher and they got me on US going to PIT with a short layover and then to BHM and I not only got a $300 voucher I got to BHM a couple hours before I was suppose to have on Delta.
