I am really surprised that DAY has as many flights as they do. Dayton isn't the much further from CVG or CMH than Toledo is from DTW.

A lot of the nicer suburbs are north of the city so DAY is closer then CVG. Plus the fares are a lot higher at CVG. I know several 500 companies do not allow CVG do to price. The way CVG is going it may close sooner then DAY.

I just went to book a flight to TOL in February and it looks like they changed the schedules overnight. Now down to one flight a day (from two) starting on Jan 5. MSP-TOL leaves just after 8:00 am, which seems ridiculous as there is little chance of anyone connecting to it.

Unless this is a mistake, DL's days in TOL are probably numbered.

Yet another ironic twist in the saga of the Largest Airline in the World with its unparalleled global network.

Thanks for the update. I was considering taking them in April on a trip to Vegas and noticed it was a pretty short layover. I looked at the on time flight history of the early morning flight and it was ZERO percent for being on time and ONE HUNDRED percent late 30 or more minutes. Who is going to want to take that flight that is ALWAYS mroe than 30 mintues late when they have connections to deal with.

I really wish they would bring back the 3 flights to ATL a day. TOL is so convenient to my hosue but when they only have one or two flights a day with connections through MSP that are ALWAYS over 30 mintues late and I can drive to another 40 minutes from my house or less than another half hour from my office to DTW and fly non stop to any city I want to, it's a no brainer

Data is likely based on October 2010 data. They flew one day that month (Oct 31) so if it was late that one day it would show up as 100% delayed.....that is extremely misleading. But still the flight has to be struggling and likely won't survive.

That makes sense then thanks. I was wondering why DL just wouldn't adjust the time schedule on that flight if that was the case.

If DL does pull out, they may as well close the Passenger terminal at toledo. That will leave only only American with daily service and they only do 2 to 3 ORD flights and alliegent and direct air does a few flights a week.

I hate to see this service fail. They have done a lot of work promoting it. There are billboards up promoting the service, they run ads nightly on the 11 p.m. news and they even are running a promo through February 28 where your airport parking is free if you remit your boarding pass from delta.

If they are down to one flight a day I agree they may as well just end the service.

I've driven by it at least 100 times over the past 34 years running the Ohio Turnpike between the DC area and South Bend-Elkhart. It is located right off the turnpike at Exit 52; after you pay your toll, there is exactly one traffic light between you and the terminal building. When I was commuting out to see Notre Dame play football in the fall, one time I tried flying TOL-CVG-BWI and return. It turns out that my in-laws live exactly halfway between TOL and ORD (roughly 114 miles to each), and I got a $200 RT, so I left my vehicle in long-term parking at TOL on Sunday night (which was about 10 rows from the terminal), and got back to TOL on Friday morning. I think my total parking charge was $20. Everyone I encountered at TOL was very friendly, including the TSA (in contrast to airports such as GRR, where the TSA is nasty). It took me around 100 minutes of stress-free driving on the open road to get back to my in-laws' home from TOL.

I think what you have is a combination of the closeness of DTW and a very easy ride up I-75 and I-275 out of Toledo up to Romulus, and the horrifyingly bad economy (when I think of Toledo, I think of outfits like Libby Owens Ford and Jeep)

I recently flew this MSP-TOL-MSP and granted it was during the holiday rush, the loads were actually pretty high.

Long story but had an accident on a drive to DTW this morning and my car was undriveable and enterprise in TOL was the only rental car company that I could find that would rent to me (the officer took my license since I was driving in Michigan on an Ohio license although no one was hurt and it was only my car involved).

When I knew I would miss my flight I kept trying to call delta with the message they weren't taking calls to heavy volume due to weather conditions. I decided to just ask at the ticket counter about what would happen since I missed the flight and had already checked in and it had departed. No one was at the counter but there was a buzzer to ring and she came out promptly and was very friendly and tried to be helpful (althought she wasn't aware of all of deltas policies such as a Y fare for a FO being upgradable). She looked at an alternative but since I didn't have a photo ID I didn't want to risk not being able to get past TSA and in all honesty making another drive to DTW and taking a red eye back and then working tomorrow just didn't seem like it was worth it to reach gold after the morning I had been having. She was able to get my card credited back even though the plane left (I always thought a Y fare styill had the $150 change fee). I wish it was that easy to deal with people at DTW:)

Currently there is one saturday morning flight and a morning and early evening flight the other six days tol/msp. I found out they are cutting back to 11:30 a.m. one flight a day so there is no way TOL will ever be viable for me.

So if the police take your license, how are you supposed to drive, or get through TSA?

I got a speeding ticket one night at DTW, (in the 45mph zone), the Romulus cop took my license too. He gave me a receipt for it, but I had to go to Romulus city hall later the next week and pay the fine. Luckily I was working there at the time and didn't need to fly, but what if I had? Seems very onerous.

US 23 and I75 were a mess down that way for a few hours Sunday morning...

Your experience with the police is also a reason to belong to AAA where your membership card is a get out of jail card.

I am flying thursday and was worried about TSA issues (I sent in my passport a few weeks ago for renewal). It was a REAL PITA to find a rental car place willing to rent to me, but I was persistant in calling and finally got the agent at Enterprise at TOL to agree to rent to me and I got stuck with a $75 cab ride to the airport so this was one expensive mileage run, especially seeing I didn't get the miles.

I got my license back today when I paid the fine. Luckilly I had plenty of cash with me, because Monroe county doesn't accept out of state checks and if you pay by a credit card you use one of those third party sytems where you pay a hefty service charge.

I found out that I had the option of paying a $100 cash fine, and if the officer would have told me that I would have just paid the cash bond. Another poster mentioned AAA's bond and I forgot about that and the officer knew I was a AAA member because I was going to call them for a toll and for some reason he wanted to do the dispatching and said it would be a AAA tow company.

I've never heard of a cop taking a license before. Is this a Michigan thing?

ND76 Dec 28, 2010 6:50 pm

They Did It in Georgia . . .

to someone I was with about 15 years ago. We were out near Rome, GA when the GA State Patrol pulled us over--he was driving, and they took his license and gave him some sort of receipt along with his ticket; when he went to court and settled the ticket, they gave him his license back.

I got a ticket about 10 years ago in Michigan for speeding and they didn't take my license, so I am not sure if this is a recent thing they have been enforcing, or if it is up to the discretion of the officer. I find it absurd they took my license seeing I have no outstanding fines in michigan and drugs and alcohol weren't involved, and seeing it wasn't a serious traffic offense and no others were involved.

I did some research when I got home that night and it sounds like MI and WI can do it if if you get pulled over and you have an out of state license due to them not having resiprocity agreements with other states. I had the option of paying a $100 cash bond but wasn't made aware of it at the time and if I would have known of that option I would have simply paid that and then mailed in a check for the additional $40 of the fine and been done with it. Common sense should have told the officer I would have paid the cash bond if I was given that option (and he also knew I was a AAA member and should have known about their bond program) seeing my car wasn't driveable and I was driving alone. I also asked him if he knew of any rental car places in Monroe since i wasn't from the area so he shoudl have known what a pain not having a license would have been when it came to renting a car.

It also ended up being a PITA last night when I was asked for an ID with a credit card purchase. Luckilly the cashier was willing to accept my costco Am Ex that had my photo on it as acceptable ID.
