How long does Delta take to reply to mail?

Hello, I sent in a letter concerning some items missing from my baggage. I sent the letter from Boston - Atlanta, 24 days ago. I was just wondering if anyone knows the time it usually takes to get a response.

Delta Air Lines, Inc.
Corporate Customer Care-Baggage
P.O. Box 20598
Atlanta
Georgia
30320-2598

This is the address they told me to contact - if that helps any.
Thanks, Lee.

Last time I contacted by snail mail it took them about 36 days to respond, but I dont know if thats the norm.

If over 30 days is the norm then you have 1 more week of waiting.

Thanks - I just didn't want to harrass them even more. I will give it 2 or 3 more weeks then contact them again!

I usually hear back within a week, but thats after contacting through the website - I have never sent a snail mail to Delta.

Ditto.

I sent a sky club complaint via email on the 21st and received a response (and 3700 bonus miles for both me and my wife!) on the 28th - exactly 7 days.

These are normal respond time:

SP phone - immediately (Not always practical)
Dl.com email - about one week, never more than two.

Snailmail - depends on the snail

Twitter: DeltaAssist - very fast (good if you can't have access to phone with reasonable rates)

Yup. I once had a snailmail ebay payment go amiss. The seller thought I was jerking him around until he got the payment - two months late, crumpled, dirty envelope with a postmark to prove that I had sent it when I had.

I no longer make ebay purchases from sellers that don't accept e-payments.

I did get fast replies from the e-mails, but they wanted me to mail it in.
I did ask a question on the Delta Assist Twitter page about 4 days ago - I have had nothing back.

yes this is about right for the postal mail, & email response has been 3-5 days from the super hub in ATL...

How long does it takes DL to answer emails these days?

I have received twice in two weeks the auto-reply that states it would take 7-10 days... it used to be sometimes the same day (even the same hour!) for DM. Is there a change in this policy? It is one that I actually do not like at all.

And an update (If anyone would look)

I sent an inquiry about the extensive delay on Sunday, 10/31. Within 5 hours I got a reply to my original inquiry (this time, unlike the previous- they ignored the fact that I sent a reminder, but the content suggested that they've been reading my reminder carefully).
However, they could not resolve my inquiry, though they have explained the reasons and promised to follow up. I will give them few days before I send a reminder again.

I am disappointed with the new email system on dl.com. It sometimes just routes emails to limbo.

I would expect a different (longer) timeline for formal baggage claims than for other service-related communications.

(If the OP is pressing for compensation for loss of valuable items excluded by published baggage policy I might not expect an answer at all.)

I've sent a few emails to DL over the last month regarding fixes to my SM account. In each case, the adjustments to my SM account have been made and I've received a (non-form letter) response within hours. ^ YMMV.

The Delta Assist is moreso a publicity stunt. I have found that they will not reply unless you mention Delta in some tweet.

For example:
I wrote, "Wow, @Delta customer service today was horrible. I expected better"
Five minutes later, @DeltaAssist was following me and mentioned me in a tweet, directing me to contact them via Direct Message.

Now, it was kinda moot, they did nothing for me expect "Sorry!" but when I sent a complaint via email (it was a complaint about a agent being really rude when I tried to buy a ticket of all things!), I had a response with a voucher the next day.

Try tweeting again, it can't hurt!
