If a SWU for diamonds is being reviewed/approved there is a lot of backup paperwork establishing the projected number of SWU's and costs, it is all plugged into the ffp budget. It took 5 years of lobbying to get NW to implement SWU's, the postcards are a great idea of getting the message to DL. Jim Cron, when he was the NW VP of marketing told me in Egan that in the the airline business "the passengers know more than the managemnt" so keep up the good work.

First of all, Rest in Peace Beth! During a "moment of truth" she cemented my loyalty to NW and I was a Platinum Elite from then on.

Sadly, based on his lack of communication, and when he does; one-way communication with this community, I don't think that Jeff Robertson shares the same view as Jim Cron. It appears that AMEX has his ear much more than his customers.

[EXACTLY, That is what the DL apologists never seem to get or want to understand!! Bravo!!^^

If upgrades were not promised (space available) then nobody would expect to get them, and would be pleased and surprised when they were upgraded. But that is not the way it is. There are published benefits, this creates a sort of contract.
The choice of airline for frequent flyers is a balance between cost, convenience and promised/published benefits of that flying.
As has been said so many times, do not promise :-:Best in Class:-:, unless you are going to be offering true Best in Class.

I think Richard Anderson must have gotten some postcards. He sold 1.3 million worth of DL stock last week.

I think the postcards are a good idea because they draw a connection to management's actions and lost revenue. Management is accountable to the board and to shareholders so if their actions impact revenue negatively they should be answerable for them.

I fear however that management has figuratively tied its hands behind its backs. Its ability to respond to customer complaints regarding all aspects of the FF program (awards, upgrades, PMUS. etc.), may be severely limited by IT. This may be the elephant in the room, Deltamatic may just be too dumb and too old.

I have to wonder about a system that seems to struggle with basic functionality, like rebookings.

Perhaps some of the postcards should be sent to an attorney or law firm specially in class-action consumer fraud suits? Detail the promises & advertisements in contrast to reality.

Every time you fly another airline, send a postcard to Anderson.

Every time you can't find a reasonable award trip, drop a note to the class-action lawyers.

There are so many people who post about the huge problems they're having with DL. I think if everyone who is unhappy sent one card, Anderson would get more mail than Santa at Christmas!

Wow, if anyone at DL thinks this way, then it sure isn't obvious to me. Moreover, given the disastrous implementation of the SkyPriority Zone 1 boarding, it makes me wonder if any executive at DL has personally ever been inside an airport.

frankc98376 May 21, 2010 11:30 am

A friend was flying on a paid F ticket last week and didn't feel the love for Sky Priority.
He said that he had to fight to get into line for Zone 1, by the time he boarded F bins were full (only half of F had boarded- the rest were left there by people heading to the back). He said it was a total "cluster ****"(not unlike WN boarding). He ended up with an awful lunch and the FA told him was because he wasn't an Elite- they got the first choice.
He probably spends more money flying F than some Plats or even Diamonds spend- just desn't rack up the miles or segs to qualify for elite status.
He's back to CO, even with the IAH connection- they seem to appreciate his $$ a lot more.

Totally coincidental... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/13998938-post211.html

I had not read your thread yet.

Well, I do seem to be a bit psychic at times. Never helped me win the lottery or anything important yet, though. :)

I would suggest to the Dear Santa poster to do what I did. I couldn't stand the toxic fruit and fake cheese. Furthermore, after we lost access to the President's Club in SFO after Jan 31, there was no place to go after 10:30PM when the SkyClub closes. DL still has 3 redeyes that leave well after then. So I got a CO Presidential Plus MasterCard for $300 (with the $75 credit) 2 months ago. That gives me PC, RCC, and USAir Club access. So you could use it in PHL (though you'd walk a bit).

So, when I send my first Post Card in a couple weeks after the first in a long series of CO flights, I'll also include one for the $300 for the CO Mastercard, which I now use exclusively and at the total expense of my DL Platinum AmEx.

Gotta love the success of this Best-in-Class Loyalty Program! Here, here!

That by itself would solve the USPS fiscal crisis. :D
