I assume that this is in business class?

Just looking back and the deflation that has occurred in miles, I was saving for the TWO FREE BUSINESS CLASS - TRANSPACIFIC 150,000 CODE X5, and was about 5,000 miles short when Delta changed the rules.

A sample of some of my past awards:

December 2007 - US Air - two awards - 90,000 miles each - Business Class - PBI-CLT-JFK(US)-BKK(TG)-SIN(SQ)-DPS(SQ)-NRT(SQ)-IAD(ANA)-CLT(UA)-PBI(US).

November 2005 - US Air - two awards - 90,000 miles each- Business Class - PBI-JFK(US)-NRT(ANA)-SIN(ANA)-CMB(SQ)-BKK(TG)-JFK(TG)-CLT(US)-PBI(US).

November 2002 - Continetnal - two awards -90,000 miles each - Business Class-PBI to Cairns Australia, with a stop in Nagoya, Japan using Northwest metal trans-PAC.

May 1999 - Continental - two awards on Qantas - 125,000 each - First Class - PBI - Ayers Rock (open jaw) Cairns - Sydney - Auckland back home.

Sept 1997 - I think I got two coach awards MIA to Rio and Buenos Aires 70,000 off-peak for both on American? That was like 35k a ticket. I would have to go to storgae and pull a storage box to confirm the rate.

July 1997 - US Air - two Concorde Awards to London - 125,000 each.

1992 - Continental - two awards - First Class - Hong Kong, 175,000 for both.

1990 - Continental - two awards - First Class - Honolulu -Cairns (Open Jaw)-Sydeny-Auckland, 175,000 for both. The red coat met us in Houston to escort us to the 747 nonstop to Honolulu, which had a chef on the flight.

There were a lot of 90,000 miles NW business class awards to Asia, even though I was never an elite on NW and most of the miles came from credit cards, Sprint phone, and non-flying promos.

And there were many many more, but I could never snag a good one on Delta metal. Maybe used some Delta miles on business class on NW metal or KLM metal. Finding low awards on DL metal is by far the most difficult of all major US airlines. I have gotton real value out of CO, US, NW and AA on miles usage. DL is a disappointment till this day. I think I used my first DL award in 1984 and it was no great value.

This is some of my experience since the start of the frequent flyer programs.

During these years I lived in FLL and PBI and Delta was the dominant carrier and it has repeatedly managed to drive me away.

I would really would like this time to stay with Delta, and I hope the Delta experience improves.

Delta FF Program

I have not being posting for several years since I was generally happy with the service with Northwest where I was an Elite Flyer for over 15 years. No one consulted any of us when Delta/NW merged.I used award tickets on Continental and their service in Business Elite was Par Excellence.Continental incidentally matched my Platinum Status for 2010 so guess whom I am flying on?Also Delta does not allow award tickets on AF any longer which is another change.
