Fee Charge. 2 Legs?

I had a quick question about the pet fee for DL. Do they charge the pet fee once even though I have 2 legs on a single reservation or is it per leg?

Thanks for the help anyone?:cool:

One fee per direction.

I suspect that the rule technically is per fare component, so that they could in principle charge you twice (or more) per direction if you have a broken fare and perhaps should not charge following a stopover that's allowed by your fare rules.

However, from a pragmatic point of view, they'll charge at check in.

Also remember you must reserve "pet in cabin" space. They only allow 2 pets per cabin class. The cost is $125.00 each way. They will inhibit online check in, so you will have to see an agent to check in and pay the fee. Maximum weight of the dog is about 17 pounds (they never weigh it). They need the breed of the dog and kennel size in your reservation. Different aircraft have different kennel dimensions. Some aircraft do not allow pets in cabin. The kennel also counts as one of your two carry on items.

It is actually suppose to count as your large carry on item and you can have one small personal item. I think it's absurd seeing that if someone is travelling with a pet the last thing they want to do is wait on luggage (I want to get home asap and get to the airport as late as possible just for the sake of stress on the pet). Also if someone doesn't have status I wonder if Delta were to enforce it if they would have to pay to check a bag (that would suck if someone is already paying the pet fee and has a bag that would fit in the bin).

Fortunately I've never been given a hassle about bringing a pet and my rollerbag and sometimes my backpack with me on board.

Buy a seat for your pet if you want MQMs.

There was one time I flew with a cat on a shorthaul and it would have been cheaper to have paid for a seat for the cat than the pet fee:) My ticket was more than the pet fee.
