Not for pets or cellos.

After the cello go around, I'm surprised it took this long for someone to ask. What's next, request miles for checked luggage fees?

No miles for poochies! :( :D If you have a DL Amex card, you should at least get 250 valuable miles for charging the $125 fee to your Amex card! :) |

If it's only a pup, does it count for infant in arms?

It is a pet. Keep your accessory at home.

Buy a seat for your pet if you want MQMs.

PM, carry-on pet, fee?
Quick: PM flying one-way with friends' small dog, sedated, in carry-on baggage. Officially and practically, what's the deal with the carry-on fee for pets?
|
Make a reservation in advance. Fee will be collected at ticket counter. Sometimes they forget but don't count on it. Domestically fee is $125. No Medallion discount.

Who is PM, the OP or the pet, that might make a difference on the fee (and if the pet is PM it may end up in FC & the OP in the back)!!!!
|
Also remember you must reserve "pet in cabin" space. They only allow 2 pets per cabin class. The cost is $125.00 each way. They will inhibit online check in, so you will have to see an agent to check in and pay the fee. Maximum weight of the dog is about 17 pounds (they never weigh it). They need the breed of the dog and kennel size in your reservation. Different aircraft have different kennel dimensions. Some aircraft do not allow pets in cabin. The kennel also counts as one of your two carry on items.
|
Last time (oct '13) I checked they now allow 2 pets in cabin in FC and 4 in coach. The kennel has to fit under seat and allow the animal room enough to turn around inside the kennel. And the under seat issue affects BE seats where there is no under seat storage. We learned that when we were almost downgraded on a JFK-SEA flight last month while traveling with pet in cabin.
And bulkhead, exit rows are prohibited too with the little beast along. No under seat stow when seated in a bulkhead seat. And exit rows are verboten too for travel with pet in cabin. All in all a lot of restrictions on how you spend your $125 one way for that carry on kennel bag pet in cabin. |
