I've read over the materials several times, and I'm still not clear on one thing:
Does this include ATM withdrawals using cards (Cirrus, Plus, etc) that do NOT have the Visa/MC logo? |

Yes. It says so in the letter, at the end of the first paragraph - ".....eligible cards, which are Visa, MasterCard, and/or Diners Club credit, charge, and/or debit/ATM cards."

Hello,
Can I claim for trip to Canada ? Thanks! Lee |
I have same question - where do you have to enter an account number?

Where did you have to enter an account number for Option 1 or Option 2? On my form only Option 3 asked for account numbers. The online form bounces if you miss an entry so I know I gave them every thing they were asking for.
In the past decade I think we have spent at least 30 to 40 days aboard every year, with almost 60 days a year the last 3 years. I wish I can do Option 3 but my old computer crashed, together with 7 years record of Quicken/Money with it. I only have records from 2003, sadly. |
Don't hold your breath!
Whatever transpires:
"When will I get my refund?(top)Refunds will be paid after the Court finally approves the settlement, and approves any award of attorneys' fees, awards to the class representatives, and allocation of the settlement fund among Settlement Damages Class members, and any appeals related to that approval are resolved. It is possible that this could take several months, or, if appeals are filed, several years:( |

I'm glad I stumbled upon this. I really have no way of estimating what was spent on old cards and such going 10 years back. But I was out of the country alot. So I have no clue what to really do.

i got two sets in the mail for myself and wifey and at first though it was spam and almost shredd the envelope...
Then I read it and went online and chose option 2. I broadly claculated that i must have spent approx 350 days outside the US from 96 up to last Feb (or whenever it was). Wifey, I put her down for 300 days. Wonder what my refund will be. It dollar terms we must have spent in the 6 digits easily, also bcs we go do xmas shopping and other shopping in europe and the 25USD option 1 would have been silly. Anyone in my similar boat? |
Option 3 pays out at 1-3%. If you go to the website you can find the payout order. Its Ex. H. It gives you the exact percentages by company and year.
Option 2 is only 1%, but THEY estimate how much you spent based on your number of days out of country and the purpose. Depending on how cheap you are, this might be better since they might guess high. I would like to get a copy of their algorithm to determine whether I’m better off with Option 2 or 3. Option 3 requires specific account numbers and total dollar amounts, but not specif charges unless you are audited. One thingy for me is I put most of mine on my AmEx, which is not covered by the settlement. Trying to track down that case – hope its not too late. |

[snip] My guess is that if you click business, they will assume a coporate card, and disallow a large chunk. If you select visit friends, they might assume you do not incur a hotel charge, and have a reduced per diem, again just a guess... ANy insight into the use here? fiat_owner |

fiat_owner business and sometimes family and friends. I'm hoping they'd use higher number for leisure travel. |
Amex before, Visa, MC now. When is discover card's turn?
I suppose they also charge all these funny fees.

Option 2 Seemed Best
I used Option 2 and put in 246 days for myself, and filled out another form for a family member claiming 108 days. These are rough estimates. No verification or extensive searching needed, plus no need to estimate actual credit card expenditures.
These include days spent in the wilderness in Bhutan where no money changed hands. I'm not a big shopper so the amount of transactions is low. Some trips involve prepaid travel arranged here and only limited expenses abroad on the credit cards. Maybe it will be like winning the lottery. |
