That's brilliant - they have direct flight from FRA and CMB on AA!
Unsure whether return still has to be via FRA!

There are a variety of available award routings, depending on date and direction of travel, including this one-stop option from SFO for two passengers:

What are your intended redemptions? Origin? Destination? Class of service?

This offer from Barclays for AA miles is one of the better ones out there:

Applied and "Unfortunately, we are not able to provide you with an immediate decision on the application you just submitted. Your application requires further review, which may take up to 10 days"

Believe because I put my first initial only. So my spouse put the full first name and was approved.

Call them right away and ask: Can I supply additional information to help get this card application approved?"
Always apply with full name.

Credit Card Recommendations for Increased Wedding Spending

Good Morning! I am recently engaged and my fiancé and I have quite a few high-dollar expenses coming up as we prepare for our wedding later this summer. We both have great credit (790+), we're currently eligible for new cards, and we're both currently sitting at 3/24 with Chase.

I'm looking for some recommendations for credit card bonuses (potentially high value, that could otherwise be difficult to reach) that could be achieved by optimizing this period of extra spending. We already have fairly healthy balances with many of the main credit card/airline/hotel programs, so I'm not necessarily looking for points/miles in a specific program or for a specific redemption or destination. I just don't want to waste this opportunity.

Both of us have had a Chase Sapphire Preferred in the last 36 months, so Sapphire cards aren't currently available to us. We also are not eligible for business cards. The following are our most recent cards that we've opened:

Me:
  • Chase Sapphire Preferred (opened Sept '20, now closed)
  • Chase World of Hyatt (opened Dec '20, now closed)
  • CapitalOne Venture (opened April '21, still open)
  • AMEX Platinum (opened May '21, now closed)
  • CapitalOne VentureX (opened Oct '22, still open)

Fiancé:
  • Chase Freedom (opened Sept '20, still open)
  • Chase Freedom Unlimited (opened May '21, still open)
  • Chase Sapphire Preferred (opened June '21, now closed)
  • Chase United MileagePlus Explorer (opened Feb '22, now closed)
Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

My IHG balance is almost zero and I am wondering if you should start on Wyndham - never had Wyndham.
Does Wyndham has hotels overseas too much like IHG?

The experts in this thread have apparently got little recommendations these days. I remember when there were lots of options.

What expertise do you need?

This isn't that hard. Pick the card you want, that offers you the currency you desire, and if eligible, apply.

But if you are anchoring to past offers that are no longer in play (e.g. Capital One Venture X) no "expert" here can help you with that.

I keep an eye here for an all time best offer. Been pretty slim lately.

- Speaking of AA, I have some plans for international trips, Germany, far east like Sri Lanka - devaluation pushed me into inadequate status. Basic fare redemption will do
- Otherwise, just domestic flight needs to take care of family and friends. Just basic fare redemption will do.
- Origin is SFO/SJC/OAK
- Me & Spouse have only applied for 3 cards in the last 2yrs - one is an AA Mileup.

Is this Barclays card considered a churn or keeper? Its hard for me to spend that much on it!

I can only justify churning Barclays.

Looking for a new CC

Hello,
My family and I do what I consider, a fair bit of personal travel and I do some business travel maybe quarterly is all. I would guess in total i would do a flight about every 6-8 weeks on average.

I have a visa flexperks with around 100k of those but I don't like that they expire so I am looking to use them up in the coming year or two and get rid of that card. What is the best method of using them out of curiosity?

I used to be faithful to Delta but with the changes happening and me not being a frequent enough flyer any longer I don't think it justifies the usual premium pricing in my area so I will look for the best price moving forward for the shortest time. My work doesn't care who I use.

This being the case, I am curious peoples suggestion on a possible replacement card. I have a discover, amex delta blue card and the visa.

My wife and I are flying in fact in about a month on Delta overseas again and I would guess we will do it again later in the year. I will miss not having the lounge access that I had with status through the past year I will admit and not sure what might be out there that could accommodate that from time to time since I lost my status. I probably wont use the card to purchase much travel out of the gate as I use up credits i have on Delta if that matters at all.

Thanks for the help.

I'm looking for a new card where I can build up a cache of miles to use in emergency cases. We typically collect miles on AS. This past December we ran into a problem with the UK strikes creating unacceptable risk to us getting home on schedule via LHR. We were very tight on time due to children handoffs and couldn't be late. Fortunately I had miles saved up with UA and was able to move our return flights from BA to UA, avoiding the UK altogether. So I learned to not have all my eggs in one basket. And now comes the challenge of finding another place to build a cache of miles in case another such situation should ever arise.

I've looked at Delta because they have decent signup bonuses, but their redemption rates are wicked high. The other option could be AA, but the current signup bonuses are a bit too lean. Which brings me to wonder if I need to look further afield. Should I be looking at foreign airlines or bank programs (e.g., Ultimate Rewards, et al.)? I currently have the AS (BofA) and UA (Chase) cards. Recently closed my Bonvoy (Chase) account - didn't see enough value there and merged the credit line with the UA credit line.

Thanks for your help.

60,000 AA miles after one purchase of any amount -- with no first-year annual fee -- is too lean for you?

You probably want to ask that in a different thread ;)

To both of you, there is a reason why DL points are referred to as SkyPesos

They can afford to give large sign up bonuses, because it takes so many miles to get any kind of redemption

Yes, I have seen posts where members were able to find some "regular" redemptions, but there are many, many more posts about how it's just impossible to have enough miles to fly anywhere.

which card waives the first year fee? If they’re offering it, I just didn’t see it. And I just looked again and don’t see a card with a 60K signup bonus. I did mostly skim over the offers for cards with a high annual fee, but even after a second look I still can’t find this offer. I guess I’m also a bit hesitant to get a card with intent to hold it for just one year. Suppose I need to get over that.
