Personal Card
Click here to get the same offer (see below) with the annual fee waived the first year. First try entering code 999999 in the box at the top of the page. Apparently this offer is from an AA employee selling the card inflight, but it seems to be open to everyone. But publishing that employee's code online could get the employee in trouble. If 999999 doesn't work, use employee code 356467. Note: You will NOT get a $99 Companion Certificate as part of your bonus when the annual fee is waived.
Language from the web offer page: Anniversary Companion Certificate: Each anniversary year; earn a Companion Certificate good for 1 guest at $99 (plus taxes and fees) after spending $20,000 on purchases and your account remains open for 45 days after your anniversary date. There is NO LANGUAGE in this offer regarding a "complimentary" companion certificate.

As of Sept. 2017, most people applying for an Aviator card are being denied, "instantly" by a computer, if they already have an Aviator card open. As of Dec. 2017, most people applying for an Aviator card are being denied, even by recon, if they already have an Aviator card open. It had been that current and previous Aviator Red (US Airways Converted) cardmembers were not subject to the 24-month restriction. This seems to have changed as far as current card holders applying for a second, concurrent card. (See posts #185, 193, 194, 195, 198, 199, 211, 220, 247, 290, 527, 529, 532)

It appears that if your SUB includes the $95 AF (annual fee), Barclays doesn't post the AF until the 2nd statement. Thus, it will be a min. of 2 statements before you see your SUB points. This is only if the SUB requires the AF (as opposed to some SUBs that just have the $x,xxx in purchases with no AF).
There have been at least two cases in July 2023 where Barclays posted the AF prior to the first statement. In both of those cases, the cardholder paid the AF and other balance prior to the closing date. The SUB was issued as of the first statement for one these accounts. It may be the second one was too close to the closing date.
Posting of points from Barclays SUB to AA seem to take 3-7 days after the SUB posts on the Barclays Statement.

However, you are in danger of not being approved for the card. People who've waited way more than a month have reported rejections in recent posts above. Scroll up and read some.
(Ie, Barclay doesn't deny you the bonus if they approve you for the card. But they make it hard to get approved for the card if you had one of the same type recently.)
Meanwhile, Barclay does not seem to enforce the 24 month rules that they publish, but what exact rules they do enforce we're not sure.
Back a few years ago (when this was a US Airways card), I got denied when reapplying after 2 or 3 months (after closing the previous card of the same type) but then approved when reapplying after about 6 months. I'm not sure whether they're acting much differently now, or not.

Wife just got Aviator card denial. In short You either have or had this card enough times in the past"
Her last was off her online account for at least two months and she has only had two previous ones to the best of our recollections. And she only has one open Barclays card at present.
Things are getting tougher with Barclays for us

Same with me. Wife and I have had the card closed for a little over six months. Despite some people being able to close and then get approved within a month or two, we keep getting a response that says we have the maximum number allowed for this product. We have zero of this product open now, so they must really mean we've had this product enough times in the past that they aren't willing to give it to us again.
Same here. I last closed my aviator red in the end of January. Whenever I apply, I've kept getting the maximum number of products allowed. The only other barclay credit card I have is the jetblue. Sure is getting tougher.

Everyone who keep reporting being denied lately seems to be way closer to 3 months after cancelling than 6 months after cancelling.

Is this really new though? In the last days of this being a US Airways card, I was denied at about 3 months after cancelling the previous one but approved at about 6 months after cancelling the previous one..

Hi,
my wife just applied for this card. She had it only once (in Dec 2017), she got the bonus and then closed the card in February.
After applying she got the "application under review" screen. Is this a good or a bad sign?
thanks

I believe if the application is not auto approved then the human element takes over and a CSR can approve or deny the application. i think if we follow certain steps i mentioned in some of my previous posts here it might help our chances on getting approved, there is also credit history/worthiness element that varies per person. Last time it went pending for me i got denied, most of the time we get auto approved, on the other hand a family member got pending message and got a letter to verify name SS# and bank statement, sent 1st time, apparently they didn't get it, sent 2nd time last week and waiting for them to receive it.

Applied 5/20, got "application under review" and had a missed call earlier today (5/23) from a number that Google tells me was Barclays. An hour later I got an application approved email. Checked the application status site and it showed approval with what I assume is the minimum CL (2k). I assume they were calling to ask about moving CL from my sockdrawered arrival. Am around 8/24 personal and just got the barclays business AA last month. Haven't had the personal as AA before, but msr-and-closed a barclays usair card just before the merger.

DP: had my US Airways legacy card converted to the red aviator world elite MC a few months back. The 10K annual bonus is now showing on my statement (hasn't hit AA.com yet).

So I don't understand how you would have still had it as a US Airways card until a few months back. Did all your statements and online info until a few months back say US Airways?

Just applied for Aviator Red and got 'under review' but after reading the wiki and some posts here I'm thinking maybe I should have closed my old Aviator White (downgraded from Red years ago)? Thoughts on cancelling the Aviator White before making the recon call for Red?

I was wondering what my chances of getting approved for this card were. I am a college student with about $5k-$9k income per year. I have a Discover card with 2.6k credit line and a 784 FICO score. Is my income too low to get approved for the card? Additionally, I was wondering if other family members having this card affects my chances of getting the bonus. My mom currently has the card, but if me and my dad both open one (assuming we got approved) would we both get the bonus? Neither of us are authorized users on the other aviator red. Thanks!
