Best card 'besides' Chase for rapid reward points

Hi all...I was shot down by Chase for the Southwest Rapid Rewards card. I tried the recon line 4 times but a no go...can't say I blame them as I bk'ed them about 6 years ago. Since then my credit has been on the upswing and actually pretty good but boy I wanted that Chase card for the CP (son moved out of state for college). After reading a bit (or a lot) I thought I can get the Starwood card and transfer the points to my rapid rewards account. Upon reading from years back I see that is not possible any longer. Anyone have advice and/or recommendations on a NON chase card to get that I can transfer the points over to rapid rewards. I know I'll lose some in the process but better than nothing. TIA

Chase isn't BK friendly, and especially if you burned them in the past. I doubt you would get a card from them without settling whatever it was owned.

Other than Chase, there is no other card that would earn rapid rewards points.

They are BK unfriendly even if you didn't burn them. 9 years later and the answer is still "no." The only listed reason for rejection is the bankruptcy. My better half will try again at year 10 and see what happens.

Diners Club transfers directly to Southwest
Club Carlson transfers directly to Southwest
Choice Hotels transfers directly to Southwest
Amex MR transfers to Choice to Southwest
Wyndham transfers directly to Southwest

Yes, I'm sorry. In turns of transferring points to Southwest I know Diners Club is one of them. Thanks for that information.

Why not try a different route? Barclay A+ can at least get you some miles built up to offset travel costs. (2.2%)

Why A+? You just get Citi Double Cash with no AF and get 2% on everything. For OP, I'd say DC Elite is the best, and transfers count towards CP, it earns 3ppd for GGD (2.4 for WN), but has rather high AF of $300.

Can you transfer directly from Diners Club???

For Starwood you can do:
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Preferred Guest converts to (starting) 100,000
* Amtrak Guest Rewards (at a ratio of 1:1) converts to 100,000
* Choice Hotels Choice Privileges (at a ratio of 5000:15000) converts to 300,000
Southwest Rapid Rewards (at a ratio of 6000:1800) Total: 90,000

But you have to spend $250 on Amtrak using Amtrak credit card.

Capital One, allegedly BK friendly. Build up a reputation.

You could also try applying for Barclay Arrival+ card. To my mind this is BETTER than the Southwest card. You get 2.2% back in points, you can use to reimburse travel on any airline.

Thank for all the suggestions, much appreciated…

After I was denied by Chase I did get the Arrival + card and while it is a very good card with 2 points per and will be and would still be my go to card if I had the chase after I received enough points to get the CP…My thinking: as of now with the Arrival I have almost 50,000 points which is $500 in travel. If a roundtrip on Southwest for one person is $250 per person, for both my husband and I, the total is $500 --- cool, I’m even didn’t cost me anything. However, if I had the CP, I’d only have to spend $250 and still have another 25,000 points/$250 left with Arrival for our next trip to see son. So my thinking the Chase Southwest card is the better card until/once CP is achieved.

Groundhog, am I understanding this correctly.

From a Starwood card transfer 100,000 points to Amtrak card. After that (and spending $250 on Amtrak) transfer those 100,000 Amtrak points to Choice Hotel card and finally after that, transfer from Choice card to Southwest?

Well worth the $250 spend on Amtrak if I got this right

aGeist…sorry you feel this way, and if this were a bankruptcy forum I suppose we can have a good debate, however, my BK and why it happened was not the question. I will offer to say for the naysayers who think the same. It was not frivolous spending by any means. My hardworking husband lost his job of 28 years (the company closed due to the economy) as much as we tried to live on my income it was not enough. My husband applied to many but his age (mid 40’s) was against him. After a year of applying he opened his own business. We used much of our personal credit to get it going and unfortunately it was not successful. Did we go about opening the business wrong using personal credit, probably? But we were desperate for income as we did not have a huge savings and didn’t want to lose our home. Until the BK have always paid my bills on time, in fact was never late on a payment up until the day we filed, and have again since the BK never been late. I hope you or another family don't lose your job(s) and eat your words...

Diners Club can be transferred but they are not currently accepting applications.

Why do you need to have an Amtrak credit card to transfer to and from an Amtrak Guest Rewards account?
