I'm curious about this too...from looking at their website it appears they have both an Amtrak guest rewards travel and/or points card, (or perk card if you will), and an Amtrak guest Mastercard. I'm still looking at their site and trying to figure it out and am hoping we/I can transfer to and from with the 'travel' card because their Mastercard is owned by Chase, ouch

Why do you need to have an Amtrak credit card to transfer to and from an Amtrak Guest Rewards account?
Effective May 1, 2008, the option to redeem Amtrak Guest Rewards points for airline miles, hotel points and experiential rewards will only be available to: 1) Members with current Amtrak Guest rewards Select or Select PlusSM status, or 2) Cardholders of the Amtrak Guest Rewards® MasterCard® issued by Chase Bank with and Amtrak travel spend on the card of over $200 per calendar year. Eligible members are still subject to the 25,000(1) and 50,000(2) annual point transfer caps as outlined in the program Terms and Conditions. (1)Members that are cardholders of the Amtrak Guest Rewards® MasterCard® issued by Chase Bank with an Amtrak travel spend on the card of over $200 per calendar year may redeem up to 25,000 points per calendar year. (2)Members with current Select or Select Plus status may redeem up to 50,000 points per calendar year. |
There are ways around the $200 spend, if you look back a few years. But then again there are some nice train trips, too. Travel by train can be great in winter versus driving.

Thanks sandie511 for digging up the answer and sharing it. I guess I didn't dig deep enough ;-)

Can you transfer directly from Diners Club???
For Starwood you can do: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Preferred Guest converts to (starting) 100,000 * Amtrak Guest Rewards (at a ratio of 1:1) converts to 100,000 * Choice Hotels Choice Privileges (at a ratio of 5000:15000) converts to 300,000 Southwest Rapid Rewards (at a ratio of 6000:1800) Total: 90,000 But you have to spend $250 on Amtrak using Amtrak credit card. https://amtrakguestrewards.com/info/details |
Why not open a Checking and Savings account. put some money in the game..
Most look at why the BK was taken, if you scammed thenm you deserve it, If Medical expenses did you in, it is a different story.. Most of this is about personal responsibilities.. |

I didn't scam them...posted briefly above, my reason and/or spending was not frivolous. However, I do understand Chase not issuing me a card because they don't know the circumstances for the BK and perhaps even if they did they still were out the money, I do get that... |
This might be a dumb question, but isn't the BK supposed to fall off your credit report after 7 years?
Assuming you didn't burn chase, wouldn't the most hassle free option be to simply wait a year and then when the BK is no longer on your file reapply for the chase cards? |
