Datapoints:
There is a $90 AF and one cannot earn the 90K in one year unless one does $25K spending.
Best way to add to initial purchase bonus of 20K is to add AUs (and quite a few of them, too!).

I just got approved for an AS card a month ago, will that have any impact for my qualification / chance of approval for the VS card?

Yes I have had as many as 3 open as the same time. I still get emails every other month from BofA with the 90K offer.

The linky in the Wiki didn't work for me, but via a card/bonus site I got this one:

https://secure.bankofamerica.com/applynow/welcome.go

and it worked just great for me, with instant approval for the 90,000 mile deal. Only $12K credit limit, but if I understand correctly, I can make that $12k x 3 or 4 in a week's time

I hate to say this again - virgin atlantic points are the worst points ever.
(maybe I am wrong again?) I transferred them to Hilton points with 1:1.5

They're good for UC seats and partner awards. I agree they're a waste for economy or premium economy seating.

I've had a bunch of points for a long time now. I too was going to transfer them to Hilton (another kind of nearly useless point currency). But then we decided to go to Cuba. And I got myself and a few others some tickets from Havana to London. To continue our journey. Good value there. Because at the moment you can't fly to/from Cuba with any American owned airlines.

Apart from that, they sure do make it hard to redeem points without excessive surcharges.

Just update the wiki the latest 90K link. Got approved for the my 7th 90K offer last week. That's 4 in the last 12 months and 7 since the summer of 2014. Currently have 3 open accounts. Have never flown on Virgin Atlantic. Use these miles primarily to travel on Delta domestically and to Mexico.

Got surprised with a denial on this card today. Called the recon line and was told too many recent applications. First denial from BOA. Credit score is over 800.

VS is really a niche currency. They are good for partner awards but be cognizant that it can be very hit or miss. They are also good for upper class redemptions with moderate to high surcharges depending on where you are flying from/to. One redeeming (no pun intended) value of VS in the recent past was they had good UC availability on a route my family needs fairly often but in the past six months or so availability has been much tighter. I'd really research how you are likely to use them and whether that use is really an option (i.e., has award seats can be booked if on a partner).

Is there a way to reliably identify DL availability prior to calling VS to book? Inasmuch as DL no longer publishes a Skymiles redemption chart I don't know if there is an award level which generally corresponds to partner availability, but perhaps this can be seen by searching on AF or another partner?

I'd say that Virgin America flights have pretty good availability, though booking is a real bother.

I use them almost entirely for UC redemptions, especially from LHR to the U.S. It's a real treat to check into the Upper Class Wing, and then head straight to the lounge. Real nice treat.

Agreed, but after awhile I find the Upper Class seats uncomfortable in the sitting position. I prefer to use VS eastbound and BA or AA westbound.

I don't use the DL site to search for Delta availability. I normally go to the AlaskaAir site, but I also use AwardNexus and search with the AF filter. If its there then I call VS and book the flights.
