Thanks but I have no interest in the MS game

BTW, I did notice my local Hyvee grocery store had a big sign saying CASH ONLY for the re loadable cards

It was new ( within the past 2 weeks) as you couldn't miss this sign if you tried

However, if your uses for Starpoints (net of the annual fee for the SPG card) consistently net you more than 2 cents per Starpoint, then the SPG card is better for you.

Thus far I have always avoided the AF on SPG by switching between Business and Personal every 11 months.

This last time (personal) I was denied the 15K SPG point bonus for spending $5k in 6 months but I still got the 10K first purchase and my wife got 5K for referring me

I used VGC when I had minimum spending to meet. But now I use Amex BCE.

Costco True Business Earnings + Executive Membership from Costco. The extra 1% from the Executive membership effectively makes the instore cash back amount 2%, plus you get a raft of other benefits with it as well. Definitely good if you do a lot of shopping there.

Not to mention the side benefit of them printing your Costco Membership card onto the Amex, effectively cutting out one card you need to carry. That's worth more than almost any benefit to me. I've got enough crap to keep track of as it is.

Executive membership is 2% ;)

Well, its 2% back from Costco. You still only get 1% back on the AMEX. And you don't get the 2% back on the gas. So I was just averaging overall.

So with the True Earnings + an executive membership, does that mean you can get an effective 5% cash back? (2% from executive + 3% cash back on purchases with the True Earnings Amex)

Best Card For Costco

You also have a lot of grandfathered Costco Green Amex Open biz cards that belong to MR program. All benefits of open gold except the multiple MR points on certain spend categories.

No. Costco Executive pays 2% regardless of how you pay - cash, check, Amex, debit, and gift card all result in 2% back in the form of a check (redeemable at Costco) at the end of your year. Costco gas does not earn the 2%. It is also an extra $55 a year in membership fees, but if you don't hit $55 in rebates they will give you the difference.

The Costco Amex pays 1% cash-back at Costco in-store/online and 3% on gas (including Costco gas).

So, buying merchandise at Costco as an executive member with a Costco Amex yields 2% rebate on the executive membership and 1% on the Amex. Buying gas at Costco yields 0% on the executive membership and 3% on the Amex.

Because if you have money loaded on your prepaid, you can use any AmEx at Costco to get 1-2%, then pay off the AmEx will billpay to double dip.

I shudder at the idea of using the Bluebird as actually intended..... :)

I figure the answer is no and too lazy to look since not a big Costco spender, but does personal gold amex get 2x there due to grocery spend?

If answer is no, guess I'll have to go back to SPG.

Not that I don't believe you but companies can change, CEOs can be swapped out. Is that in writing somewhere on Costco's site?
