[EXPIRED] Barclays US Airways CC offers [EXPIRED]
I am new to thread and this is my 1st post...
I have found a 50K link for US Airways Dividend miles Credit Card. By far the best offer I have seen. Please read the Terms and Conditions Carefully before applying. This is not a referral link. https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/...&cellNumber=51 I was surfing on Barclay site and found this link after some tries, seems they will be posting this link soon (not public yet or targeted). This offer may be coming after the news that this card will continue along with Citi AA. $89 Annual fees not waived. |
Thanks and welcome to FT.
I consider this a 40K offer because you have to transfer 10K to get up to 50K. And the transfer fees are not insignificant. |
Excluding the 10K miles for a balance transfer that would cost $300, this is a 40K offer, or 5K better than the fee-free offer. It may be right for some if you need those 5K miles and don't mind paying $89 for them.

Welcome to FlyerTalk and great first post!
However, when compared to the 35k no annual fee, you're essentially paying 1.78 cents for the extra 5k at that point. Not worth it IMHO. Good job finding a higher offer though, maybe applying for the 35k no fee and asking to be matched to 40k may work? Will ask the SO to try as she'll be getting her card soon. |
So what is the current recommendation in terms of applying for another us Barclays card? Was approved December 2011, canceled December 2012, re applied January 2013, and plan to cancel by end of month. Should I apply before or after I cancel? Need this advice for my parents too. Excellent credit score, about five inquiries and one new personal card over last six months. No other cards with Barclays.
I definitely don't want to cancel the card and then get rejected, want the 5000 miles off award and ability to spend 25k for 10k eqm. Thanks for advice. |

Was there a first-class check-in though in the old offer?
First Class Check-in and Zone 2 Boarding: All Primary Cardmembers are invited to check-in at the US Airways Preferred or First Class counter when checking-in for their flight. The Primary Cardmember only is invited to board the aircraft early as part of Zone 2 provided their Dividend Miles number is part of their reservation. First Class Check-in and Zone 2 Boarding are only available on US Airways operated and marketed flights. |
Thank you!

I applied for the 30K US Airway card with the fee on December 18 (I'm an idiot and didn't see the better no fee offer). How is Barclay with matches?
|
Does anyone know to get your companion certificate back if you lost it?

Shame on me. And thank you.
|
Anyone with 2 cards receive the 15000 bonus/ 750 spend offer for the second card? I activated my second in beginning of December and am patiently awaiting. Maybe after a few more statements.

Great find, thanks for the post.

While we're talking about the US / Barclay CC, does anybody know if there is a foreign transaction fee?

I opened the no a/f, 35k after first purchase card just last month. I'm assuming I now am out of the running for this card? it would be nice to stack it for 75k miles...
EDIT: upon further research it seems you can indeed have 2 of this card. Does anyone know a good wait time to ensure I am not denied? EDIT2: Upon even further research I found an answer, figured it was worth reposting here: But that is no indication of whether or not it will work for you. Some people can get a third card while having two open, and some other people can't even get a second card while having just one open. And isn't tied to anything simple like wait between applications, credit score, history with Barclays, etc. It seems to be pretty random. One factor (but that itself may be pretty random): If you happen to get an instant approval, you're approved. If you happen to get a deferred approval, for any reason at all (even if the reason for not getting instantly approved is a technical one, not related to the final outcome you would have gotten had the technical problem not held up the instant approval/rejection), you're more likely to get rejected for a second or third card. |

With the demise of the 35K card offer (see wiki at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/credi...-wiki-121.html) this is worth pursuing, IMO. 10K miles for $89 AF. It's now in my next churn.

Thanks. Just got approved for the Citi AA Executive today. Thinking of another app.
|
Closed second US Airways card back in September, then applied and got third US Airways card in November. With just one card open applied again for fourth US Airways card this month. The denial letter states that the denial was because: "You've already established the maximum allowable number of this product with us".
A second reason given was that I had made "too many recent applications"; I had made four between October and December. But this could not have been an actual reason for denial since immediately after being denied for this fourth US Airways card I applied for the Barclays HA card and was immediately approved by them. Perhaps three is the maximum number of US Airways cards they'll approve. Will have a better sense of this when I apply again for this card in June. |
Tried to get my 3rd US airways card and was denied for having existing product. First one open since Dec 2011 and the second was closed in June 2013.

You still might be able to get the 3rd one upon applying again some months down the road (since you did not get the stronger "You've already established the maximum allowable number of this product with us" denial). Always worth another try.

"This product" does not mean any other type of Barclay card. So it's saying you have enough Barclay cards, it's just saying you have one US Airways card and they don't think you need another one. You can cancel your existing card and try again in a few months. |

Yeah, thanks. Wouldn't consider paying $89 for 5K miles, unless I really needed them. But everyone's needs are different, of course.
|
I have tried multiple times to get a second US Air card... this time I waited 6 months between any CC applications and still got denied.. so annoying.
|
I believe I have identified the worst barclaycard offer by checking most of the cell numbers.
https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/...&cellNumber=28 5k bonus for US employees Any idea why the employee card offer would be so bad? |
data point
My wife applied for this 40K mile card today & got the "we'll let you know in 10 days" response. Has anyone automatically been approved for this card after 10 days? I'm guessing not. Will have her call the recon. line tomorrow.
She has only had one Barclay card in the last 2 years and that was the Arrival card (5/2013). She applies for 2 or 3 cards every quarter (last apps were on 11/6/13). She has high 700 scores. Pretty surprised she wasn't auto. approved. |
Barclays is the worst CC company i've ever come across. Hope those bozos go out of business tbh.
|
I just got instantly approve after closing the previous one about three weeks ago while the arrival card still open.
Is it possible to get the 40000 bonus mile, close the the account within 30 days, keep the miles and get a refund on the annual fee? |
5K award discount
Does anyone know if the cardholder can get a 5K discount on international US metal award tickets? If I read it correctly, the discount is only for the cardholder, not for others on the same booking.

I was just approved today for the 30k offer today. Do you think they would change me to the 40k? I'm really upset I didn't search first! :(
