*** Historical information follows: ***

Do not use a Preferred Application (10K Anniversay bonus) if you are not Preferred Elite. The reconsideration csr said as of December 11, 2014 the Preferred numbers are programmed in their computer and non-Preferred are immediately kicked out with no credit check. You cannot apply for any Barclays card for 30 days after rejection.

from the rejection letter I received:
The Dividend Miles number you provided on the application does not currently reflect a Preferred Status within the Dividend Miles program, and unfortunately this offer is only available to Dividend Miles members with Preferred Status. A credit report was not used in making this determination.

Note: If you are an existing cardholder of the older version of this card with a perpetual anniversary bonus, please ask account questions here:
[EXPIRED] Fee waived, US Airways Card, 30K + 10k @ anniversary

Check Application Status

Current offers:
There is a new (as of Dec. 4, 2014) public offer for 50,000 bonus miles after the first purchase, $89 annual fee is not waived:
http://www.worldgotbigger.com/us-airways-credit-card/

There is also an offer for 50k now and 10k at first anniversary, for preferred members only, reported by jrobinson5 in Post 935 - but see that post for the link and that user's difficulties with it.

Older offers that may still work:

50k Offers - There are individually targeted offers circulating for a 50k signup bonus. No one has yet identified a way to apply without actually receiving a personalized code from Barclays in advance.

40k miles after first purchase; $89 annual fee NOT waived [This is the standard public offer]

40k miles after first purchase plus 10k miles at first (and only first) anniversary; $89 annual fee NOT waived [Note: For"Preferred Members Only"; for similar offers, this has been sporadically enforced - see the anniversary miles thread below for historical data]

Alternately, there is a long-running 35,000 mile offer with first year fee waived and 10,000 miles every anniversary:

Fee waived, no spend, US Airways Card, 35K (WIKI) Now dead - However, see that thread for 30k + 10k anniversary offer

(All offers with perpetual anniversary bonus are no longer available)

FAQ's
What will happen to this card when American and US Airways mileage plans are merged ?
The best information we has says that when that happens, Barclays will no longer be able to issue new cards, but your existing card will continue to be serviced by Barclays and become an American Airlines "red" credit card with benefits similar to the Citi AA Platinum card now issued (http://mommypoints.boardingarea.com/...erican-merger/)

Can I churn this card?
Yes

When can I apply for my 2nd/3rd/etc cards?
The general consensus is that you wait 6 months between applications with calling for recon significantly reducing your chances (better to get instant approval). YMMV. Note that in late 2014 there were several successful reports of people applying sooner than 6 months.

Do I have to close already existing accounts before applications for subsequent cards?
No but as always, YMMV

What's the reconsideration line number?
1-866-408-4064. Only open M-F, 8am-5pm Eastern time.
1-866-951-1437, After-hours (24/7)

When do the bonus miles post?
The annual fee will usually be charged in the first billing cycle. So assuming you made another purchase of at least $0.01 during the first billing cycle, the bonus miles will be credited to your account on the second billing cycle. If the AF doesn't post until the 2nd cycle, and you wait til the stmt. appears, your miles will not post until the 3rd cycle.

Key things to note with these new cards:
1. The previous cards waived the first year's annual fee and offered 10k for holding the card another year whereby the annual fee was charged. FTers, however, reported that Barclays did not clawback the 10k bonus after cancelling the card shortly after the AF posted.

2. The new cards' T&Cs this time explicitly state that the bonus will post upon payment of the AF (which is not waived) given that the fee isn't rescinded.

-Does this mean they will clawback the points?
Not enough data to confirm this

-If they don't plan to clawback the miles, how do they enforce the new terms?
They could, in theory, award the bonus after the period in which you could request a refund of the AF expires

Can I make a purchase and pre-pay the $89 AF prior to the first statement posting and receive the bonus miles?
Maybe. As of now, there are at least three data points stating this has been done successfully. Make a purchase of $0.01 $1 or more then use bill pay to make the payment and include the $89 AF (e.g. - a $1 purchase requires a $90 payment). If done correctly, the bonus miles (and the spend miles) will post on your first statement and to US Airways one day after the statement closes.

However, there are at least 2 reports (see #400) of having done the above and the AF did not bill in the first cycle (hence no posting of sign up bonus in that cycle). See the post for a possible explanation.

PLEASE POST if you applied again (FEB-APRIL, 2015), and after approval, ACTUALLY GOT the eligible bonus second time around after your approval and one time spend. That's really what peeps want to know.

I'm seeing a banner on the sign in page that says:

Welcome Bank of America US Airways Card Members. Please return after 6am EST on 1/26/15 to activate your account.

Huh??? When did Bank of America have a US Airways card????

A long time ago. I used to have that card.

This was before America West bought US Airways through a reverse merger and became the US Airways we know today... which American Airlines now bought.

Barclays used to offer the America West card, and Bank of America the US Airways card prior to ~2005.

Applied and was instantly approved for the card on 12/24, just received it today 1/2.

I am disappointed to see that the fine print about the companion certificate does indeed say that it had to have been used by last weekend, and booked nearly three months before I even applied for the card. That would have been a neat trick if I could have pulled it off.

Not only was it blazed as a benefit of the card when I applied, amazingly, it's still there in the landing page for the online application.

Sloppiness yes, and a bit of inadvertent false advertising.

I'll be taking my $89 50K miles and adding them to my (very small by FT standards) hoard of miles but this is a bit of a bummer.

Double check your agreement, mine says 2015 not 2014. This is also what the terms on the landing page say.

Bummer. I opened the Barclay Priceline CC in Oct then applied for USAirways CC by the end of Oct. I got a hard pull from Barclay but application was declined. Then I waited until Jan 2, applied again, got declined, instantly. I called the recon # twice and after the rep double-checked my income, rent, expense, etc, they told me I have very limited credit history and opened too many accts within 1 year. I do have a very short credit history (1y, 1mon). I guess there is nothing more I could do right?

Same happened to me. I eventually sent emails to myself (other email addresses) until one came through. If it's going to make it, it will show up instantly. If it doesn't show up within 1-2 minutes, you're not going to get it. You can then forward those on, copy/paste the link to someone, whatever.

Applied 1/1 and got the message that my application would be reviewed. I called on 1/2, they asked for me to verify employment and salary, asked about liquid assets, etc. He mentioned that I've opened a number of cards this year and ask if I pay them all off in full (yes). The rep then noted that I have the Arrival Plus card and thanked me for my "heavy use" of that card and then approved me.

You are right, of course! I would delete my post if it was not good for my humility.

I think besides my lack of reading comprehension it was confusing to get the card, sign up at Barclay, and see no further mention of the companion passes. I guess there's something that will arrive later.

(Also thanks for not taking the opportunity for snark.)^

I am not familiar with barclays cards application rules and I was wondering if there is a dedicated thread for Barclay's cards. Thank You.

I applied for and was approved for a US Airways card 40K with 10K on renewal in May '13. Only approved for 2K credit limit Platinum Card. Haven't used card in almost a year. Paid AF and received 10K miles. Card is still open.

Despite reading the whole only one card rejection, I figured I might as well give this one last shot. I could wait several months and apply for Arrival if no luck.

Applied for 2nd card in 12/14. Only 1 new card last 6 months, 2 in last 12 months. Approved instantly for 20K credit line.

So the whole only one card thing???????

I still have a BOA Visa Card thru US Airways which is going to be transferred to Barclay and I am planning to cancel it and get the Arrival+ directly from Barclay. Will apply within a day or two.

The future of the USAirways Card?

Hi all. I've tried following the threads on this card for the past few months. Back in Oct/Nov the speculation was that this card would be reissued by Barclay as an AA card. Recently, I've seen a few posts indicating that existing cardholders would be passed over to Citi and issued a Citi AA card. Has there been any official word on the plan for next year with this card?

This is probably in here somewhere, but the short version is, the Card will continue to be issued & managed by Barclays, but will turn into an American Airlines branded credit card. When that happens barclays will no longer be able to sign up new cardholders - only Citi can add new AA cardholders to their product. So basically, if you get it now you can keep it indefinitely, but new signups go bye-bye sometime this year.
