How to pay down CL quickly?
ACH push from other banks to wells fargo checking and then use that to pay credit card

Likely to get shut down if...?
- Have a negative balance
- Have a really high balance
- Cycling several times through your CL
- Calling in and getting caught by human eyes for suspicious activities.

To check what your 5X/5% window is:
In the rewards account, go to My Rewards -> Account Activity and the days left on the promo will show up at the top....looks like a pie chart.

To check which transactions get 5X/5% before your statement posts
Now, to check if new transactions are eligible for 5X before statement closes, go to "My Rewards" on the top and click "Activity" and set the start/end dates. You should see a "bonus earning" for 4% extra cash back for anything that's eligible.

Caps on 5x / 5%??
There are no more caps.

What to do when transaction not going through due to FA?

I have a credit line of 13k. Receive the letter after 1 month of heavy spending at CVS. Do you think I can still do some moderate spending at CVS? May be $3-4k a month?

I'm sure they were wondering what you bough at CVS for $14k that month! LOL. What did the letter say exactly, I'm curious because I am about to open one up and do the same thing. You can also hit grocery stores hard too.

It said they have noticed suspicious pattern of paying several times during cycle and big transactions at CVS

the responses here are ridiculous . I did similar to you about 1 year ago(spending wildly on gc at groceries and CVS.) It lasted about 3 months. Got same letter. laid off for a few weeks. Then bought 2 VGC at Shoprite. Week later acct was closed and lost some points. Hint, redeem points NOW!!!

I did not really went so much over it. I guess several payments were a mistake.

Thanks for advise. Even if I would try CVS again, I already have spent all points. Did the closure affected other WF accounts?

I would love to hear from someone who hit this card hard but did not cycle the limit. I'm guessing if you max out your credit limit each month but don't cycle they wouldn't be so willing to ship out a breakup letter. Oh yeah, and use the points asap, never let them linger. 3 months is still a good pull on 5x rewards, that's easily $3k if you redeemed it for cash.

Did you blend in some organic spend as well, or just VGC's?

WF 5%

I spent on other items also. Once they sent letter, do not buy GC again and redeem points now.. They are watching you. The T&C actually state that GC will not earn points. Unfortunately they have been enforcing it now. We were lucky up till now. I have written them off. They kept my CA open but I closed it a month later.

Closed the cash version of this card almost 3 years ago. Has anyone attempted a churn in a comparable timescale?

Strategy

I just got mine in the mail. I'm considering two strategies:

1. Slow burn - only doing a few $K per month (under credit limit) until the 5th statement closes, then go hog wild until letter received or 6-mo period ends. This has the benefit of not rousing suspicion hopefully while still earning something.

2. Or, if even staying under the credit limit the first few months will trigger a letter, I should just explode out of the gate and MS as much as possible until letter received.

What do you guys think?

Thinking of jumping onto the gravy train here. Which one do you guys get? I am seeing a couple of different 5x for gas/grocery/drugstore card for the first 6 months on WF website

1) Regular Visa Signature - https://www.wellsfargo.com/credit-cards/visa-signature/

2) Home Rebate Visa Signature - https://www.wellsfargo.com/credit-ca...e-home-rebate/

3) Home Rebate Non-Visa Signature - https://www.wellsfargo.com/credit-ca...e-home-rebate/

4) Rewards - https://www.wellsfargo.com/credit-cards/rewards/

Sounds only 1) is the best deal if I am looking to use the CB to purchase flight ticket...

Thoughts?
