Grr. Just last week my wife and I received replacement Priority Pass cards for our Citi Chairman AmEx cards, and they have the dreaded "SELECT" emblazoned on the right hand side.

Any card with lounge access with first year fee waived ?

Is anyone giving out a credit card which has lounge benefits but without any annual fee for the first year ?

If not, what is the cheapest credit card with lounge access ? ( Assume lounge access membership fee is more than credit card annual fee)

I went with a targeted Chase CO new card promotion this year that had this benefit.

Just spoke with an Ameriprise concierge who spoke with her supervisor. They still don't know which level of PriorityPass will come with Ameriprise cards. She said they should know within a month.

Does using the PP Select card incur the per visit fee of 27USD?

Select has nothing to do with the fee, it only determines whether you have access to certain lounges (currently the only difference I believe is the UA/CO lounges).

Fee structures would remain the same regardless of Select or not.

I ask because AMEX Platinum is now offering PP Select card as a benefit. They don't specify the level.

The Priority Pass bundled with the Platinum Card has no restriction on the number of free visits. Therefore, it is a Prestige plan Select card which will exclude CO/US lounges effective 10.1.2011. There is a $27 per guest per visit fee, automatically charged to the Platinum Card.

The Ameriprise card does not (in my experience) charge the per guest, per visit fee, although the terms that originally came with the card never promised that they wouldn't.

And I can also confirm that they are still swearing they have no idea whether their memberships will be "select" or not. I'm due to get my new card within a week or two, so I'll know then what they're sending out in the mail.

Should I Get the Select Card, I already have PP Regular Card

Ive just renewed my Priority Pass membership for another year when this letter from my Amex Platinum came in about free memebrship, from what Im reading, I should get the Amex PP Select and use it to increase the visits before I start getting charged extra on my regular PP card, does this sound kosher?

If you have a Standard or Standard Plus membership, then use the Amex PP Prestige card all the time, and just use the one you paid for if you want to use the CO/United lounges that are available after October 1st. There's no reason not to use the AMEX PP card otherwise.

If you paid for a Prestige membership, then it doesn't really matter which you use.

There is no limit to the number of visits with the Priority Pass membership bundled with the American Express Platinum card. "Select" excludes CO/UA lounges beginning 10.1.2011 but has nothing whatsoever to do with the membership plan level: Prestige, Plus or Standard.

I just applied for it, cant hurt to have both, travel via AMS freq to Africa, and it has proven very handy, may not renew the PP basic card since I hardly everu use it in the US
