Does any one else have PP through Citi Chairman /UBS / Amex-USD-EUR card etc see if this is the case?

Thanks

As Mia notes, that note does appear in the general lounge directory, which does not require log in and is available through all the various PP apps. The credit card and exp. date don't matter unless we've learned that some of them are "select" memberships.

Still no response to my inquiry sent to PP Friday ... So much for two business days.

Same here. No response. Maybe they also do not know the answer

That's because the USA PP office is in Dallas and the office has been closed, as has most of Dallas, for the past 2 days.

I just received the following response: :td:

Thank you for your inquiry. Priority Pass Select is a card provided to you compliments of a third party financial institution such as a credit card company or bank. If you are a "select" member, you will be receiving a new card that is marked SELECT on the side of it. Your membership is a "select" membership provided to you compliments of Hilton Honors Surpass American Express card.

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact our office. Thank you, Priority Pass Dallas [email protected]

That is not a good news. I guess a lot of people will not be able to access CO/UA lounges as of 10/1/2011 unless you have a PC or RC membership. However, priority pass membership will still be good when traveling outside US.

PTSBrian Feb 3, 2011 10:13 am

And I got the exact same response--not sure whether Ameriprise will be a "Select" card provider or not. Next inquiry will go to them...

Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, your Priority Pass card is issued to you by a third party and we do not have access to your individual account information so you would have to check with them to get a definite answer. I can tell you if they change you to the "Select" plan, they will issue you a new Priority Pass card that has a gold bar across the side that reads SELECT. This may restrict you to certain lounges in the future, but would have to confirm this with them to be sure.

I'm sorry I'm unable to confirm that for you. Thank you, Priority Pass Dallas

Citi Chairman (MasterCard) responded:

Dear Valued Customer:

The Priority Pass membership will remain at the same level and not be downgraded.

Thank you for using our website.

Interesting. It mentions specifically the Surpass card, which provides the basic PP membership (charging $27 per visit) to its customers for free. So maybe there's hope for those of us with the 'Prestige' level PP membership that Ameriprise provides that we will not be downgraded to 'select.'

All right, a little more information. The Ameriprise CSR transferred me to the "Benefits" department, which in fact oversees the Priority Pass benefit not only for their card but for several other banks' cards, too. This representative said this was the first she had heard of this. She went online with me on the phone, saw the remark in the lounge directory, and reiterated that she's never heard of such a thing. She was checking with her supervisor, got my phone number, and said she would call back. She said she was pretty confident she would have heard about this by now if it was affecting the cards she works with, but she promised to get back to me with a more certain answer in a day or two.

Any Update. It looks as though Amiprise card is not select. When I go to my account I do not get the notice for UA and CO.

PTSBrian Feb 9, 2011 11:18 am

Got another call from the Ameriprise CSR ... They are very diligent! ... To tell me she still doesn't know for sure about which way the world elite mastercard will go, but they are seeking clarification for that and all the other cards whose benefits they manage. She promised to email me when she knows. I'll share that here when and if I learn more.

I too noticed this and inquired of Priority Pass. I understand that the Select Membership is specifically designed for US members who obtain their membership through US financial institutions. You may want to obtain your PP directly through PP. Yes, airline consolidation has affected access to lounges e.g. Delta no longer grants access to Priority Pass card holders.

Please go the following link. It explains why Select Membership cards will no longer be accepted after Oct 1/2011 by UA and CO.

Welcome to Flyertalk, and thank you for posting the link which offers this explanation:

Why can’t I access Continental Presidents Clubs and United Red Carpet Clubs?

Although available to other Priority Pass members, these lounges will not be accessible to Priority Pass Select cardholders after September 30, 2011. This is because these airline lounge partners have their own arrangements with US financial institutions, and do not want to conflict with that by allowing access to Priority Pass members who get membership through such institutions.

In other words, CO/UA is again protecting Chase. If this statement is literally true it would apply to all USA bank issued Priority Pass memberships including some which have explicitly indicated that their memberships will not be downgraded.

That seems like a pretty definitive answer.

Goodbye Ameriprise World Elite MasterCard. It was good while it lasted.

just when i started using it :( and asked amex plat to shove it (they wanted irs 4xxx forum when I am applying as an employee of the bank thro their wealth management unit and a fico score 740+.)... unless u travel international there is little use ... Now once they move the 4.5% (which they just started doing) ... that is the end of the card. Hunt for the next card continues :)
