When do CC Inquiries Drop Off?

Like many others, I have applied for a lot of Chase cards in the last year. I pushed my luck a few months ago for to CO card and was denied for too many inquiries (6 in 6 months, 13 in 1 yr). I have several inqueries that will be a year old in Nov.

When do those Nov inqueries drop off...after exactly a year or at the end of the month?

I really want to maximize my chance to get the CO card before it goes away.

At least my UA card is now just over 6 mo old so I can negotiate to cancel that one without fear the 50K will be taken away. I did not want to risk losing 50K in order to get 30K, even though the odds of them taking it back before were small.

Unfortunately it actually takes 2 years for hard inquiries to fall off your credit report. For Equifax and Transunion they drop off after exactly 2 years. With Experian they drop at the end of the month following 2 years. But I have heard that inquiries in the last 6 months have a much greater impact on your credit score than the ones beyond that.

After a year they will have no impact on your score. Each CC issuer looks at them differently. Some consider ones in the last 6 months some for the last year. I am not sure if any of them look at inquires more than a year old.

So, How many inquiries in a year can you have before you start getting rejected on cc apps? Is there a correlation here?

I know that it is about 3 hard pulls in 6 months for Chase. For Citi, I believe they only look back 3 months (and allow basically 2 or 3 hard pulls in that time).

Would like to know what AMEX looks at. Anyone have any experience?

Three in the previous six months. YMMV
