Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

Press release today highlighted its debut at the Natl. Biz Travel Assn conference today but noted it will move to IAH shortly afterward.

Release talked a lot about the spacious ambience of the cabin but nothing about any seating comfort innovations....no surprise given the configuration...

Can't wait to see the 9-across, 31" pitch setup.

I know that it will generate buzz but given that it is the same cramped whY configuration I'm not sure just how useful that buzz will be.

If it looks exactly like the 777 Y configuration (only tighter), I can't imagine why anyone would get excited over it - frankly, it would be a total turn-off.

Leave it to the airlines to turn the most beautiful airplane to grace the sky in decades into a dreaded sardine can (I know CO isn't the only airline opting for 9 across).

Here is a photo of the mockup from the Seattle-PI: http://blog.seattlepi.com/aerospace/archives/217393.asp

The photo only shows the back of a couple BF seats.

It really is a nice looking plane, so curvy inside

Has it been confirmed that Y will be 9 across?

The 787-8 is 17'11 wide. It is 16" less than 777, which CO configs with 9 across (3-3-3).

Anyone seen what the Y looks like? A seat map?

If they choose to go with 9 across I hope they will find space for an E+ section with 8 across.

is it me or does it look like BF is going to be 2-1-2? seems awfuly tight to do 2-2-2; then again the aisle in the 757 is small (though this might be more problematic here since everyone has to go through the aisles)

Not officially but given the number of seats they've announced the plane as having and the general amount of space that a seat takes up there aren't many other options. Plus there have been some non-official discussions that make it pretty clear the layout will be quite similar to the 772.

CO hasn't released any yet.

Not gonna happen with the current numbers. I'd be especially surprised if they do both 8-across and extra pitch. Unless there is a true mini-cabin with bulkheads separating them a 3-3-3 to a 2-4-2 is a PITA from a customer perspective at that row. The aisles would be strange as would the seat widths. I guess they could go 3-3-2 and have only 2 wider seats but that seems unlikely.

Given the numbers they've announced for the capacity it will be 2-2-2.

Wow, so much empty space, what are they going to put in there, a ping pong table?

Really wish they'd show the Coach configuration.

2-2-2 in BF on the 787 won't be any tighter than the insane 2-4-2 on UA 777s!

I could have sworn someone posted a link a few months ago to a thread on a.net "confirming" (based on the seat count) that CO was going 8-abreast on the 787? Did I imagine that?

I'd like to see the data and proof on that, as sbm12 put some effort into it and was not able to find anything conclusive.
