SAN gates and lounge after the split.

Anyone heard anything about gates or lounge access in SAN after the split from Skyteam? A Delta club ga told me they own the gates CO uses in T2 and he thought CO would move to T1 - where United has a club and gates.

It would make sense to move where the club and partner are. Of course, there is more to it than simply walking over to the other terminal, but I'd expect it to happen eventually.

See also http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/conti...ht=speculation for more thoughts on it.

It would be a shame, though. The newer section of T2 where CO's gates are now is much nicer than T1 or the older portion of T2.

Agreed.

I remember when CO was in Terminal 1. I think they used gates 1 and 2 in the WN satellite. They didn't even have a jetway sometimes, IIRC. I seem to remember walking down stairs that were driven up to the plane to get into the terminal. I think this was in the late 90's as I was in college and flying CO a lot SAT-IAH-SAN when I'd come back from school.

I hate Terminal 1...so cramped and crowded. At least the UA and US satellite is a bit better than the WN one.

While T1 sucks, I'd rather have the RCC than no club at all.

CO had planned their own lounge at SAN - even to the point that an announcement was made about the opening of a SAN PC (same for MSY). But neither happened.

SAN - just no place to put it. MSY - they had to build an addition on the terminal - then CO moved over by DL. So neither happened. I suspect CO will move at MSY as well over by UA.

That's true, but SAN is currently planning an extension with new gates in T2. I would wonder if CO would hold out for those developments.

I agree and the TSA lines and time to reclaim baggage, at least for me, are consistently longer in T1. I'd rather stay in T2 and sacrifice the lounge than make the shift to T1. Sorry channa!

I wonder what is going to happen at FLL. Of course there is a P Club there, but who's gates are they at FLL? Delta servicing the flights there....but CO seems to have a pretty substantial employee level there as well.

One of the reasons I almost bought my first PC membership was the New Orleans announcement. The CRC agents at MSY said that space was absolutely not a reason for CO's decision, rather CO didn't want to fork over the money for a club at MSY once they found out what the price would be. They probably didn't realize the price they were originally quoted was only the "base rate" and didn't include the "tips" to the City of New Orleans and Kenner politicians.

One longtime CRC agent said their MSY club cost DL more per square foot to run than any other of their CRCs. It would be a TOS violation to go into his opinion of Orleans and Jefferson parrish politicians who regularly stopped by to "say hello" and have a drink or ten. Also, talks could have already been underway about reciprocal club use. I had a Priority Pass membership at the time and decided to stay with it that year.

Except when it's crowded, the MSY CRC is one of my favorite airline clubs anywhere.
