Even if they had a good NC headset there could be several reasons to still bring your own. Not trusting sanitization is one. Also, on AA they don't give them out until well after take-off, and they collect them well before landing.

Perhaps one could bring disinfecting wipes...:p With regard to AA headset timing, I wonder if that is on purpose for not allowing the use of electronic devices during take off and landing. Come to think of it, are NC headsets really allowed during takeoff/landing? I had my NC headset on during take off for quite a number of times on CO but have not run into a FA request to turn it off; I sometimes also read on my kindle (k2, wireless is always turned off except when I intend to buy books or receive newspaper subscriptions) and no one has said anything either. Of course, if they ask me to turn off such devices I would comply right away.

I'm hardly an audiophile, but I think the Bose are overrated. They're not even all that comfortable; you can't turn your head sideways with them on. I much prefer the Sure in-ear noise isolating headphones. Much better job at blocking out the cabin noise, plus they're a fraction the size of the Bose. I always chuckle when some self-important business type next to me pulls them out of his carry-on, while I slip my Sures on from my pocket.

Although I have not tried Shure earphones, but I generally cannot live with in-ear phones for long hours. I found my over the ear headset, not a Bose, mind you ;) more comfortable to wear despite it being bulky.

My significant other, who is super EXP on AA, laughed when he saw the headsets they give out on Continental's Business First. No noise cancelling?

No honey....:(

He also called the amenity kit "dated", which I think it is, though I like the stuff they put in it, esp the mints.

We have to bear in mind that CO is an airline run by an accountant

What did he think of AA's shoebag amenity kit?

CO just revamped the amenity kit not too long ago. I think it is actually pretty decent for a US carrier, and definitely better than what NW and DL have offered recently (although the latest DL kit is a bit of an improvement).

With respect to headphones, I agree with everyone that the BF headphones are a joke. They are, in substance, much larger version of the "state of the art, ear-conforming" headphones that used to be offered in coach and domestic F.

Please forgive me to follow up on another question that got buried in an earlier post. Are NC headsets really allowed during takeoff/landing? How about e-ink type reading devices like the amazon kindle (wireless off)?
