I am slowly getting impressed.

I typed in

8/29 EWR TPA U

and got back a listing of flights with instant upgrades from a M fare for myself as a Platinum. This is a time saver.

There is definitely more utility here than immediately meets the eye. It is time to keep pounding away!

I could not duplicate this today. Still, I know what I saw. It would be a great feature to be able to quickly, with a few key strokes, bring up available FC seats for an M fare. It should be something similar to what I posted above.

You Asked: What kind of a guy is Frank Lorenzo?

Alex: Continental's history dates back to July 15, 1934, when Varney Speed Lines was founded with a single-engine Lockheed aircraft in the American Southwest. Today, Continental is viewed as a leader in the global airline industry. Please use this page to find out more. View Page

Funny, the last FA I asked that question to gave me a much different answer.

can someone with the preview access ask if you can get access to the Avianca Lounge flying international business? (those of you that remember the thread will know why i'm asking!) :D

What date format is your account set up with, mm/dd/yyyy or dd/mm/yyyy?

I'm getting invalid date errors on all my searches. I also use dd/mm/yyyy format.

Alex: You can track your animals throughout their journey online at cocargo.com.

You have to ask the moose question on Alaska's website. There was a web "mascot" a couple of years ago named Tim. When the website was processing information you'd see moose tracks across the screen. I know, hokey but people loved him. Jenn has a whole back story on what happened to Tim.

Apparently Jenn Hasn't been made "aware" of Alex yet:

You Asked: You Asked: Do you know Continental's Virtual Assistant Alex?
Jenn: We have many airline partners included in our program. You can earn mileage and redeem awards for travel on these carriers.

Alex: I am a Virtual Expert for Continental. I answer customer questions here on our Web site.

So as people ask more question Alex will get smarter and smarter.
Maybe Viki or Hal would have been good names too?

Perhaps a male Virtual Assistant named Gordon would have been fun. :) Oh, wait. Bad idea. Every third or fourth word would have been (expletive deleted)! :D

Virtual Assistant Replacing Live Agents?

I guess we now know why CO chose to bring this feature on line yesterday. Perhaps it's because of this news today:

Continental Airlines to Cut 1,700 Jobs

The 1,700 jobs cuts Continental announced amount to about 3.4 percent of its work force. They are on top of plans to eliminate 500 reservations agents and to put 700 flight attendants on leave.

This is the same company, next IT, and platform as Alaska Airline's "Ask Jenn" virtual agent. If you want to get a kick go to their website and ask her "Where's the moose."

You Asked: are you single?
Jenn: Currently, I am single.

Makes you wonder what Alex is hiding!

I would have expected it to return U fares, not upgradable M fares, from that query.

I asked. Just a link to the regular PC locations page.

I tried it and got a bunch of "S" fares.

I had an odd fare result last night also, asked to search CLE-LHR 8/15 returning 8/22 and it presented fares of $1810 R/T, I thought that is quite high and opened a new browser window a few minutes later at co.com and got fares of $910. Retried the search with Alex and then she returned $910 fares. Odd.

Ha! I asked "where's the beef" and Jenn apparently didn't know the correct answer is Wendy's. Too bad about Tim though, hope he enjoys his retirement.

Maybe because you drink more than it is stocked?;) Same as Scotch on my flights - always running out, even after checking the back...

Nice Try...

You Asked: if a tree falls in a forest and there is no one there to hear it, does it make noise?
Alex: My favorite time of year is the summertime.

I'm sure the IT folks on the other side of the screen are having a good giggle reading the queries that we are putting into the system, I know I tried a few that perhaps I shouldn't have......
