While the PDA site is a great tool I don't know that it's a true indication of upgrades. I know I have been upgraded but not shown on the site.

I've also seen celebrities, politicians, former politicians, and other VIPs that received upgrades on the site.

On another note, Pelosi's protective detail would be officers from the Capitol Police, and not the U.S. Secret Service. The only time she'd receive USSS protection were in an emergency situation such as the Continuity of Government Plan, as last enacted on 9/11, where anyone in the line of succession is immediately located by the Secret Service and protected in the event they become POTUS. Scary stuff.

As long as she's not interfering with CO's EAU policy, it's all good. :D

And since we are already so off topic, DC police provide most of the escorts, not SS or capitol police. Any time you see a motorcade thru dc most times its just the dc police. Pres, VP, etc get ss plus dc police, etc etc

Imagine that is little more consistent these days with her being #2 in line for the POTUS.

Really? I know he's from Delaware but it's not nice to skip Joe "Foot in Mouth" Biden.

You mean the guy who's #1 in line, which comes before #2?

DC Police usually bracket a vehicle containing the VIP and their security detail, which come from federal agencies.

do the senators and congresspeople buy their own tickets when they fly back home on the weekends or does the gov. pick up the tab?

As flying home to their districts is business, I believe this is on the special government rate.

All motorcades have DC police at the front and rear for traffic control/"sweep" purposes, followed by the VIP vehicles and SUV's containing whatever federal security agents are responsible for the VIP in question (SS, DSS, etc.).

There was a lot of misinformation in this thread concerning the agencies who protect various types of government officials, most of which seems to have been corrected in the more recent posts.

Under the GSA travel arrangements, there are two types for general governement travel, capacity controlled (the equivalent of a mid to low-range coach fare, depending on airline) and non-capacity controlled, which book into Y on most carriers. On CO, I believe non-capacity controlled used to book into H (now B), but I do not know what the current status of that is since CO does not have many GSA city pairs these days.

Other agencies may have access to other types of government fare availability, also.

CO has no GSA city pairs this year, though one can still book government fares with them. The fare classes range and I frequently see B or Y (sometimes K).
