caught the show yesterday at EWR as nice as it is , the 1 part I dislike is if you happen to get there and by chance it was showing the pecking order for UPs and changes 1-2-3 then you can have a 7 course meal before you will see that screen again:mad:

anyway no UP for me out to SAN even though there were 10/16 UPed in the end when I finally got to EWR (will post about that later:mad: 8824) I was told there were still 7 setas available in FC and I was #7, checked with the GA and was told to board and all UPs will be handled out on board. Well 3 people got the call, dont know if the other 4 were simply people who hadnt done a seat assignment or did 4 people somehow PayUp. But I got what I paid for a Y seat:(

I guess in a few months it will only get much worse, hey theres always looking forward to '11, that is if CO doesnt do another 2x on the EQMs next yr

@ IAH
I saw these at E5 and E6, and you can't really see them unless you are seriously looking for them. Somehow I was expecting E4 to have it the day I was departing on CO 152, but could not find the monitor. People waiting in line at the new Jamba Juice by E6 didn't notice them either until I started taking pictures of them. I guess these gates along with E18 and E19 will be hard to place because of the high ceiling.

@ EWR
Was surprised to see it them placed for C125, C126, and C127. Didn't get to see the full cycle since I enjoyed the PC a little bit longer and got to the gate on time to have the GA check my passport and inform me they were boarding EliteAccess to MXP. On my return to IAH, liked how they were placed at C74, close to the gate counter.

I experienced the new displays at EWR gate 127 flying back from the DO on Sunday. Very nice, bright, sharp displays - much clearer than DL's.

I thought the cycle was too slow - and some screens unnecessary - like the one which shows how to stow your bags under your seat. Some screens are too long, the standby and upgrade list are about the right time. Seems like it took over 6 minutes for the cycle, maybe longer.

On the return 73G - 10/12 F seats occupied. Not sure why they waited until the door was being closed to call up over the loud speaker the last two. Not like it was fully booked, but 2 unsold seats up to the last minute.

FTers are an indeed small subset of the traveling public - there are still clueless  out there that need this information.

E4's is at the back of the seating area hanging from the ceiling on the same ceiling mount for E3's display. It's not the best of locations.

Any Updates, have the GIDS been deployed at other gates now or is CO still in the "testing phase"?

Have you ever heard her routine for Ebonics Airways? Hilarious as a whole, but the best line is "I'd show you how to use your seatbelt, but if youre too ignorant to figure it out you need to just get off the plane".

Wish they could say that in real life.

Its been a couple of month now are they going to be installing more or is this going to be a slow role out like the LiveTV?

As soon as the GIDs start generating revenue by charging every person to see them, I assure you they will be widespread, GIDs in the sky :)

okok, I didn't see much deployment in IAH.

Any word if they roling them out more or still in the testing phase? Any CO insiders know

star_world Jun 8, 2009 10:43 am

They are in the new B gate area in ORD - saw them last night.

airlinepeps Jun 8, 2009 11:15 am

I think those are the leftovers from DL hopefully CO will keep them and power them up and put them to use since there going to be alot of Flyers from CO and UA metel fying on CO out of ORD.

Leftover from DL?? DL has never operated out of concourse B at ORD.
The GIDS screens at B1 - B4 are indeed displaying CO flights. They went live on June 1st with the move. Gate B4 is a dual use gate and has been made to display the CO or UA flight accordingly.

That's correct, star_world. We installed them in Chicago-O'Hare (ORD) as part of our recent gate move.

Hi airlinepeps, we're still in our pilot phase, which is expected to continue for a little while longer before we expand at a large scale. Feedback has been positive. We don't have any specific rollout details to share as of yet, but stay tuned!
