The Nutella Conspiracy

In a follow-up to the Rodele Conspiracy thread, I present these questions to you.

Of the many items at the PC doesn't Nutella go best with the Walkers, followed closely by the pretzels? And if so, why do the IAH PCs serve Nutella with breakfast, and the cookies and pretzels after breakfast? Also, why is there no consistency in Nutella service?

The first time I saw the Glorious Spread at IAH in Jan, it was out in the afternoon with the cookies and pretzels. At DCA a week ago, there were no cookies, but the Spread and pretzels were there for consumption. But, at IAH, I was denied both on the outbound and return. Thanks to the kindness of the bartender (I missed his name) and a bit of well placed Spanish with teh support staff, I did come away with four packets (two for me, two for the wife) to celebrate Valentine's Day.

So, is LK trying to keep me from getting too fat? Is he trying to save a little cash? Does CO want me to take flights that get me to IAH early and take me on later? Or is there something more sinister going on?

You need to write the Nutella folks and let them know about your special V Day treat for you and the Mrs. -ought to at least get you a coupon ;)

I suppose I could write them a *gasp* letter. Yeah - their site has no phone or email address, just a physical.

If nothing else, it might help them realize the value in their partnership with CO, thus ensuring a plentiful supply of goodness forever more. Well, plentiful if you arrive for breakfast. ;)

Other than once in January, I've not managed to find the Walker's shortbread or the Nutella out at an IAH PC at any time of day. :(

Never seen walker's at FLL, EWR, or IAH since it was announced, at breakfast time or any time.

I always find the Nutella in C South but none of the Walker's.

Just ask at the bar and they'll dig out some shortbread. That's got to be the most awesome snack at the PC. I'll take the Walkers any day over the long-missed Milano cookies. Add a cup of tea and I'm likely to lose track of time and miss my flight!

RE: Nutella, many people like to put it on fruit, hence its presence in the morning. I brought a couple of packets with me on a rather cold outside trip recently. They froze -- but made excellent substitute chocolate bars :p

At least you don't need to use your keys to open the Nutella pack after the foil breaks like on that (really tasty) peppercorn stuff. I guess after the last conspiracy thread, they fixed the problem since I haven't had trouble opening one of those in a while.

Way to go CO! :o)

Agreed, the Nutella on a banana or apple is superb!

Was it Tripp (the man that ties Charlie for the best bartender ever)? I was talking with him just after the DO about the lack of Nutella and he said that they just got some new staff and they weren't filling some things timely. He offered to get me some, but I didn't need it. However, I asked if he had any Walker's and he promptly pulled the box from behind the bar to fill the bowl. He had just finished a rush of people and hadn't noticed it was empty.

I prefer nutella with a slightly crusty bread (think french baguette) along with certain cheeses. If I don't have the other two to balance it out I feel it's way too sweet.

Like others are saying, go to the bar. Kind of like the granola bars (which I haven't seen in a long time), they seem to be a bar bowl only treat. I try to pick up at least three or four packages so I don't have to open the family room door so often - between the three of us they disappear pretty quick. Now that I think about it, I don't think I've seen them outside of C South.

As for the Nutella, it is good to hear that other folks like their Nutella at breakfast times. At least I can rest easier knowing that there is some reason to CO's breakfast rhyme - even if I can't have my cookies with it.

Yeah, but I'd rather have to use my keys than have to start smuggling jars of Nutella past TSA. :D

Hmmmm.....the name Charlie sounds right. From the picture I know for sure it wasn't Tripp. Guy I'm thinking of is an older black gentleman with enough skill in enough languages to really catch you off guard. Great sense of humor and a killer citrus punch. I wish the bar hadn't closed on the 14th before I had a chance to get another one and leave a tip with some cash I borrowed from the wife's purse.

As an aside, I do want to say thanks to all of the PC staff that stayed late on the 14th. Yeah, a lot of flights were delayed thanks to the rain, but you didn't have to stay open for a bunch of mangy travellers watching their flights get pushed farther and farther back, but you did instead of packing up and going home to your own plans. And that made all the difference.

who needs cookies ...

who needs cookies, pretzel or fruit for their nutella ...... just open packet and squeeze straight into mouth .......:D:D:D:D

Nutella works well on the bagels and english muffins too!

Btw, whats a conspiracy is the US made Nutella (Mars factory) doesn't taste near as good as the Euro made stuff (Ferrero factory).

That would most definitely be Charlie.

I hate the fact he's never working when I'm through IAH these days. I haven't been able to hang out with the guy at the bar in many months. :(

For an added chocolate treat, take a pack of Nutella with you for a lunch or dinner flight where the cookie-pack will be your dessert. Get the Nutella nice and warm so it softens up, then use the cookie as a scoop. Mmmmmm delicious.
