Same problems as OP all the time

I have the EXACT same problems as the OP ALL the time with my Chase Pres Plus card. I have threatened to toss it out on numerous occasions. Even when I call to get it fixed it is not fixed. I basically have a monthly multi call discussion with them. Apparently they have assigned my account to a special team because I regularly get the same CSRs.

They dont seem to care ... and I am a HUGE user of the card. I have never ever had these sorts of problems with my AMEX.

I think Chase is a joke, but I appreciate some of the benefits so I am stupid enough to keep it ... so, now, I ask you ... who is the fool?

Interesting to hear that others have the same problem. I wrote to Chase Customer Service. So of course I get a form letter response about fraud detection. Here's an excerpt:

We pride ourselves in having some of the industries most
sophisticated systems for preventing unauthorized access
and use of our customers' accounts.

So sophisticated that it makes your card unusable five days in a row!

Now if CO's frequent flier miles were a bit more useable, I might hang in there with Chase. But since FF tickets are rarely available on the routes that I fly when I need them, there is little incentive to put up with Chase's lunacy. I think that I might start collecting hotel points instead of airline miles. :(

No problems here

I've had my CO Pres Plus Card since 2006. Pretty much stopped using it late 2007. Went on a trip to Kenya/Tanzania in Jan of last year and had no problems using it in either country at all (since nobody over there really accepted my AMX card--and if they said they did, their machines were always conveniently out of order). Pretty much all I use it for these days are monthly re-occuring charity donations.

I
I cancelled the card last week after an angry conversation with a "customer service" supervisor. Their sorry customer service lost them over $40,000 in annual charges as a card holder for four years.

I've had a few months where there was a significant disputed charge and I was charged finance charges. They were reversed two consecutive months after I called and pestered them to reverse what should have never been charged in the first place.

Last month, they only agreed to split the finance charge. It was only $8 that I paid, but it really ticked me off.

This month, I was charged $39 for an overage fee. I got married and had a $20,000 hotel bill. My limit was $10,000. The hotel charged the max that Chase would allow: $12,500, and then the hotel put the difference on another card. I hate paying finance charges or overage fees, so I called to request a reversal of the $39 as a courtesy, since they didn't take my whole charge and I always pay it off monthly. First guy refused, and the second guy, the supervisor, was VERY rude about denying it. So I told him "congratulations, you just lost yourself a good customer because of your sorry behavior." I sure hope somebody listens to that recording- a perfect example of what NOT to do.
