peace,

Kim Hee Son was never Miss Korea. She's a Korean born soft-porn model / actress.

That's ok - there probably are no more than a dozen or so active basketball players whom I would recognize if I encountered them in public.

Shows what I know! I just went off of what my friend HoonAh told me -- maybe she was hesitant to describe her as such? Like I said, I don't follow Korean TV or movies / pop culture much in spite of living there for years and speaking the language. Just not my thing.

peace,

Thats a great story, and very well told too :D ^

I am a fair weather Knicks fan (as in I havent seen a game since ~2000) and I couldnt recognize Marbory. But i do know who he is.

He was suppossed to be the savior when he came to NY .

Which summarizes the Thomas years perfectly - better than average talent and has done some nice things for the community, but overall an utterly useless teammate who would have best be characterized as a bum when he showed up and a bum when he finally leaves.

I would think that a lot of famous people would enjoy a conversation like this. Usually they have to deal with all sorts of assumptions people have about them. Here, he could just have a normal conversation with someone, much like he did before he became famous.

Who hasn't heard of it? If the OP hadn't heard of Tech either then I wonder what Mr. Marbury would have thought. Whether you can major in Basketball, I don't know.

He was only at GT for a year or so before declaring for the NBA draft. So no matter what his actual "major" was (if he even declared one), he was really only there to promote his basketball skills.

I refused to go to Knicks game while Isiah was there .

This is a great story - thanks for sharing with us.^

Celebrities, especially those facing paparazzi all of the time, probably love it when they are not recognized and can be themselves

I saw him play once, but from the seats I had I doubt if I would recognize him either. :D

NY has a basketball team??? Marbury is still playing?? Don't worry if I was sitting in your seat I would have a acted like I didn't know who he was as well.

Well... Given that he's been terrible for the Knicks and the city/fans can't stand him, I'm not sure that's entirely the case. :p

He's an egotistical jerk that has made every team he has played for worse. He also was involved in the harrasment suit brought against the knick coach Isiah Thomas by Anucha Browne Sanders after an intern testified about having sex with him in a truck.
