OMG! I like the New Delta! Is that wrong?

I flew a o/w PDX-SLC this week on a new 738 with leather seats, great interior, and the new AVOD. I have to say it was clean, safe and reliable to an extent CO has not been recently. I was very impressed, and a little sick to my stomach......

Anyone else have this experience?

I was very impressed with DL's Y product/service PHX-ATL-PHX recently. Elite boarding was just as good as CO.
the AC dont always have the AVOD, but the drinks and meals for purchase were really nice and substantial. not the CO turkey grenade or the crap snack items everyone else sells. i dont mind paying for the DL stuff.

FC, id still rather fly CO.

Is it wrong? yes. Just kidding :-)

I've found myself on a few non-DL itineraries recently and have been surprised about how consistent DL is in Y while others (NW, CO) haven't been. It's refreshing to know what to expect and get it (AVOD especially). Granted I may have to pay for food in Y but I find it higher quality.

F service on DL has it's up's and down's and though I did enjoy CO F, I like the signature cocktails and, when I can get them, the spare ribs. I'm actually looking forward to my DL meal tonight :-)

There is nothing wrong with Delta's onboard product. They have been actively trashing their FFP, though, which is one reason I won't be traveling with DL for the foreseeable future (unless a tasty Q-UP comes along that I just can't resist).

I flirt with DL all the time and don't mind them (usually).

To put it in a little perspective, in addition to the hacking of the FFP as ALCO mentioned, CO is also stepping-up their IFE. Roll-out begins this year for the domestic fleet.

I see your great BOB with purchasing food in the terminal. @:-)

Their product's better than the scarlet U I've been spending time with.

Yup - that's Delta for you. Solid soft product, but a FF program that's joining US Airways at the top of the trash heap.

Don't forget...CO is installing LiveTV on the 737s this year...

One flight....one flight ;)

Delta's onboard products aren't bad, although I still prefer CO F.

The problem is their FFP, and it's much harder to upgrade because of how easy it is to obtain Platinum M.

Delta tends to be more consistent across the board, but that could be consistently bad with some things and consistently good with others.

As mentioned, I've found their F service spotty, their 757 satellite entertainment doesn't work more often than it works, and their upgrade process has seen some recent signs of shenanigans that would light this forum up like a roman candle at a gas station.

They are now charging Platinums 150 to change award reservations, and the latest rumor that sent the poor Delta forum into its latest tizzy included suggestions that they would shrink their F cabins by 25% and cut free upgrades for LUT fares - that rumor was officially denied by someone at NW management, but not by anyone at DL management.

In a nutshell, the Ghost of Mullins Past has come back to haunt Delta, so I'd probably watch them carefully before thinking the pasture is greener there, even if things go sour when we hook up with *A.

One thing to always keep in mind if things sour here, and DL looks worse - if you can pull off 100K EQM per year, AA will still offer you a hearty stack of SWUs and unlimited free domestic upgrades.

I am very happy with DL.

Of course it's not wrong! They've done an outstanding job upgrading thier product and the result is an experience you, myself, and many others are happy to report about. I've scheduled a few of my trips with DL this year, given CO may not be with SkyTeam by this time 2010...one of which is the 744 HNL-ATL service. ^

I *just* gave up my Delta Platinum status, trading it in for Platinum on Continental. First flight yesterday. Biggest disappointment is lack of screens in boarding area showing where you are on the standby/upgrade lists.

In addition to satisfying curiosity, minimizing hassle of folks asking if they've cleared, it's a very transparent way to show that the requisite process are taking place. Continental needs that system in my opinion.

There's no reason not to -- unless there is something that they don't want us to see.

COInsider indicated about 18 months ago that these were in the works.

Nothing yet, of course.

Instead, there is the pda upgrade system, which requires more effort but accomplishes the same thing.

thegeneral Jan 23, 2009 6:47 pm

DL also doesn't screw you out of 50% of your EQM's if you book through your travel agent provided that you're flying their metal. It's good that CO frequent flyers are noticing. One Pass is on a one way reduction in services as they start moving to the policies of their buddy United. It's only a matter of time before complementary automatic upgrades go away and you're stuck with a certificate system.
