How's EWR PC?
 

Just changed to CO 15 BF and haven’t flown out of EWR in a while.

Thinking about leaving home earlier to avoid cab ride & security stress and relaxing at PC before this long haul -- guess that's lower level.

Never been to any PC but assume if I end up with 1 1/2 hours before flight I’ll be happy there?

PS -- how is security @ EWR these days?

I prefer the upper level near the 70's gates..but just personal preference.

Drinks are free, which is nice. There is light breakfast in the am with muffins and english muffins (and free tasty bloody mary's that are made surprisingly well)

You'll have snacks (chips, apples, cheese) all complimentary as well.

Free wi-fi and some newspapers and magazines.


Overall, I very much enjoy haveing the PC option in EWR.


Security is variable raning from horrific to infuriating to sometimes not-so-bad depending on time of day and personalities. Since you're flying BF you can use the elite line and save some time getting through.

Since you're flying BF, you will have access to the "elite" security lines. Usually not a problem, especially at the time of day CO 15 takes off..

As far as President's Club, as Dergon mentioned, there are two. The PC on the 2nd floor which Dergon entioned is usually less crowded. It's also a little older.

The PC near Gate 120 (which will probably be closer to CO 15's gate) is huge and newer; it can get overwhelmingly busy, but I think you should be OK in the middle of the day before leaving for HNL.

Sure busy, but never to the extent that it is impossible to find a seat. I prefer the club near 120 as it is more airy and has good views of the outside. Of course, all the PCs have free wifi and decent clean bathrooms.

My biggest problem with the EWR PC's is the lack of power outlets in the general seating and bar areas. They get extraordinarily crowded during the 4-6 period and I often find myself without access to a power outlet unless I use one of the cubicles.

That said, both PC's should be relatively uncrowded prior to CO 15.

Security at EWR ranges from 0 to 30 minutes. If you are flying BF, you can use elite line, but on busy days, it doesn't save you all that much time (maybe wait 20 minutes instead of 30). If you are in the city, consider flying out on USH helicopter, save time, save cab fare, pass security at heliport.

During busy times, PC are crowded - the one near gate 74 is usually less crowded.

Agreed on PC being crowded but I'm a little surprised at your assessment for how long security takes at EWR Terminal C.

My usual wait (I've been in the peon line for years) is 5-10 minutes. I will agree, though, that the elite line is sometimes no advantage at all.

I've waited 20 minutes in the elite line plenty of times this year. The longer wait times almost always correspond with the 4-6 pm departures window. To make matters worse, the elite line is occasionally used for large school groups on their way to Europe.

Yes, it *usually* (99% of time) is 5 minutes or less. Except on weekdays in the morning (8-10am) or evening (4-6pm), when it is 15-20 minutes. I got stuck there for 30 minutes last year day before thanksgiving. :(

Understood, not so surprising, though, since this is one of the heaviest travel days of the year.

Yeah. However, sometimes, the agent at the head of the line will actually look at your BP and say "you need go to checkpoint X". Just happened to me last week - there was no wait at either checkpoint, so no real inconvenience, just a surprise.

Yes, surprising although understandable. I'm assuming it's their way of managing the crush so that each security station gets an even load.

I ignore the folks who are not TSA. They have no control over me or how I pass through security.
