Dinner = Pretzels???

OK...we all know not to depend on food served onboard...and trust me...I don't...but it is rather misleading when continental.com AND the pda site indicate that the inflight amenities in first class include "dinner". I always know that the 573 from YYZ-EWR is not long enough for dinner, but this is ridiculous...I take this flight quite often and they NEVER serve anything more that pretzels in first class (including this evening which I was onboard)...why post that dinner is served when nothing of the sort truly is???

Inflight Amenity Information
Continental Flight 573
Toronto, ON Canada (YYZ) to
New York/Newark, NJ (EWR - Liberty)
Sun., Nov 9, 2008 at 5:25 PM
Boeing 737-500

Complimentary Food
First Class: Dinner
Main Cabin: Beverage service only

Yet another expample of the "over the top" CO service that some seem to say is so superior on this board.

Heh, disparage a companies service because of a web site error. Brilliant.

I'm not disparaging the company's service. It is just annoying that both the website and the pda site indicate dinner and nothing of the sort is served. If it is truly an error then I would hope that it gets corrected as soon as possible so that if a customer decides to purchase a first class ticket with the assumption that they will be served dinner that they won't be disappointed. Isn't that what customer service and setting an expectation is all about?

Bedsides...it is a company's responsibility NOT to have errors published on websites, pda sites, etc...that is the whole reason why I posted this to begin with. So that continental FIXES the "error".

http://www.continental.com/web/en-US...c/default.aspx

FIRST CLASS:

1 to 1 ½ hours beverage, peanuts or pretzels

Furthermore, if you search for a First Class ticket on YYZ-EWR, every flight actually operated by Continental shows "none" for meal.

Again...I will say it again...I did not expect "dinner" on this flight...I fly continental enough to know I'm not getting any sustenance on such a short flight...my point was to bring up an error that shows up every day listed for this flight on the website, the pda site, and the timetable.

However...your average customer out there may indeed be disappointed when they consult all of these publicly available pieces of information...including their e-receipt that clearly state "dinner" and nothing of the sort is served.

Just like my beef with the award charts on the website (Scott...it is still not fixed) :-) I am still of the mind that publishing inaccurate data does a disservice to the customer and to the company. Fix it already!

I agree my friend, it is an error that NEEDS to be fixed. I was just simply pointing out that correct information is, in fact, available elsewhere ^

I agree...but when you have one piece of information in three or four places saying "dinner" and in one other place saying "beverage" which would you believe? :D :p

Funny thing is that earlier this year this same flight in first class listed "snack" as the food. Only recently (like a couple of months ago) did it change to say "dinner"...that is what makes no sense to me...it has always been a beverage a pretzels. :D

I like how you use a ton of :D:p:D;);) after a tough (even if justified) critic to make it sound nicer. :D

We have been told - and have generally found it accurate - that the PDA site is the most accurate and consistent source of in-flight amenity information because it is tied to systems that evaluate the specific flight and aircraft assigned, not running off of a "generally offered" estimate such as the dining page. It is not unreasonable to expect that it be accurate, nor is it unreasonable to point out mistakes on the site. Interestingly enough, this is the second post about inaccurate data on the PDA site from the past 36 hours. Go figure.

It shouldn't even say "Snack." It should say "Beverage service only." "Snack" means the cold plate or salad tray. Pretzels or peanuts and drinks falls under the beverage service.

OK.
I'll make it simple. We will call them dinner pretzels and peanuts. That should make everyone (but the tummy) feel better ;).
