With rule changes...ff to tlv looking for best program
Hey all. I sit here wondering what to do. currently am a silver (oh well) and my main trip is mia - tlv. until now my hauls have been at a silver level but in the coming years should increase substantially. i havent had any benefits with the status on this route and wonder if there is a better option out there. be it dl, af, or el-al i am not particular, just looking for the best place to hang my hat with this route in mind.

if you're flying a lot, I'd guess DL offers some good benefits, including upgrades for their platinum tier.
LY's benefits for statused members suck in general.
If you want to do connections in LHR, you can go the AA/BA route too.

a nonstop flight to tlv is disappearing with ly ending it soon. dl seems ok and their flight from atlanta is good but infrequent. maybe the aa/ba route is better.
is there a site that lists the quantity of flights each airline has to a destination. also when it comes to upgrades are there any better airlines then others. i figure ly has the most chances for upgrades but as stated their benefits suck as does their service.

LY in air service in C/F is just fine.
DL offers 1x daily from ATL and JFK
LY offers ~5x daily from NYC

so my guess is you favor ly for the multiple flights and bite the bullet for the ancillary stuff.
are they in a "skyteam" type of alliance with anyone?

is af worthwhile. since they are skyteam would my status at co transfer and allow me the upgrades and benefits if i fly af. or will i need to fly af and earn status there to get the best benefits and service, etc.

If you are very short it might work
bj Id look either to a AA MIA-LHR connecting on BA to TLV or DL MIA-ATL or JFK and then to TLV. Of cause you could do a MIA-JFK-TLV using ElAl

US applied for PHL-TLV, but I think you'd be nutz to switch to them... we're all trying to get out from US.... but if you are in EWR, it might work...
YMMV

BTW AA needed miles 65k for Coach vis COs new 90k
130k for BIZ vis COs new 120k
180k for 1st class CO doesnt have 1 but for the same 180k you can get a Coach as an Easy Pass which is the way you will usually have to cash in for a TLV tkt.
I dont know if AA has the same amount needed for a LY tkt, the miles above are for an AA/BA tkt IB uses A-320s

AA is the same for any combination of partners AFAIK.
So you can go BA MIA-LHR-TLV in F.
or MIA-BA-LHR-LY-TLV.

when did the Feds allow AA miles for a BA flight out of the US and BA miles for a flight on AA out of the US?
AFAIK we still cant use our AA miles on BA except for AA to Europe and connecting to BA overthere. I didnt say LHR since Im sure I could go JFK-CDG and BA CDG-LHR-TLV.
I do believe that we can do a US-Canada-LHR-TLV with only the part to/from Canada being on AA, but with all the departure taxes and layovers I wouldnt want to do that, If I can help not doing so.
lets not forget RJ but RJ is only out of JFK,ORD or DTW (sometimes). RJs Biz looks Great but the 5 hr down in AMM isnt my cup of tea, I had it booked before TK opened up.

sounds like under the new rules aa is looking abit better these days. how is their attitude towards elites and what is the upgrade succesiblility ( is that a real word) both nationally and internationally.

problem is Im not sure youd be able to use AAs UPs for a flight that isnt on AA metal
and AA doesnt fly its own Metal into TLV and I dont forsee them flying there any time in the near or far future either.AAPlat and below for dom UPs you need to use your miles or coupons you 4 500-mile coupons for every 10,000 actual miles flown. So a NY-LA r/t would take 10 coupons. AA also sells them

between aa, co, and ly which offer the lowest level for elite statuses. i think i will just retain silver with co at this point and go to one of the other two depending on which offers more.
