Has the policy on upgrades for flight 7 NRT-GUM changed? I purchased a Y class fare on this flight and called today about getting an upgrade and was told it would be 10,000 miles. I thought this flight on a 737 would qualify for free upgrades as an elite and also because I purchased the Y fare.

Did I just have an agent who did not know what she was doing or has the policy changed?

I have recently changed my travel from US to CO so I am not as familiar with their system yet. Thanks.

I am not sure if one can Y-Up as an elite on this flight, but it is definitely a EUA flight, either on the 767 or the 738. If you are on a Y fare you shouldn't spend miles for the upgrade; it should happen with the regular EUA windows at worst.

Hi dagwood, very sorry for the confusion. Elite members are indeed eligible for complimentary upgrades on our flights between Tokyo (NRT) and Guam (GUM), including instant upgrades for Y class fares. Please contact our Elite desk once more, or better yet, pull up your reservation on continental.com where you should be able to self-serve your instant upgrade.
