fare decrease -- help

Quick question: I have a flight in a couple of weeks, and the fare has dropped almost $100. Can I get a refund or a voucher without paying any change fee? The reservation agent says I have to pay $100 for either. Is she correct?

Most likely right but call back and get a different agent. Never can tell until you try.

But see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=719550.

The agent is correct, as per CO policy. Some other airlines (notably UA) allow you a voucher for the difference with a fare drop. CO does not - you have to pay the change fee.

The only way this makes any value for you is if the price drops more than the $100 change fee. DL has a $50 change fee...my price dropped $95 two days after buying it on DL (talk about bad timing), a quick call got me a $45 voucher.

I see a revenue opportunity for CO here: price protection insurance. ;)

A lot of posts on these boards about similar situations, A great "DO" topic with top brass.

A slight correction to the previous post...you can get a refund, but have to pay the fee. So it's only worthwhile if the fare difference is greater than $100,

...or if the fare drops while you are still within the 24 hour refund period.

You will have to pay the $100 change fee since your changing the ticket..When you buy a full fare you are buying a changeable ticket..when you buy a cheap fare..your buying all the restrictions that go along with it..Thats the price you pay..@:-)
