Hi all - a friend has told me he would liek to give me some of his one pass miles so that I can fly first class overseas but I wondered if this was possible and if so, how to go about it. In the rules on the Cont site, it mentions that you cannot do this, but that sounded odd to me. Any thoughts on how I can add some miles to my account from a friend that wishes to give them to me?

The best thing to do is for your friend to use his miles to book a ticket with your name on it.

(This is only a problem if you're trying to combine his miles with miles of your own to get to an award level.)

Add to that a max of 15,000 miles transferred out per account per year and you've got it all. Also, you need to call OPSC to do this and have the OP account and pin you are transferring from and the OP account you are transferring to.

It's a bit buried on the website but a simple search finds all the details at:

There is no such thing as a "Star Alliance Account."

Miles belong in the program in which they are earned; the programs are operated by the individual carriers. You can redeem your CO miles for travel on partners and there are a very few transfer options out of the program. Otherwise they're stuck where they are.

20% bonus
There is now a 20% bonus on miles transfer between CO account. Paying 1.5c per mile still sucks though.
