my original flight from pse-sju-ewr-slc was changed to pse-sju-iah-slc about a week ago and i wasnt notified. is this common? they put me from L class to y class
Flight: CO1712
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800
Fare Class: Economy (Y)
Meal: Dinner
Upgrade Elite Y Fare

Flight: CO2271
Aircraft: Embraer RJ145
Fare Class: Economy (Y)
Meal: None

so are both my y class upgradable to first class or just flight 1712?
or should i be pissed?
just because, if i didnt check last night, my friend who just bought a ticket today would have gotten a different flight from me, and i bought my tickets back in august.

It's not common for the airline to involuntarily re-route you without notifying you. Make sure CO has your proper email address and that their email didn't go into your junk filter. CO won't call you on the phone in this situation.

If you are an elite member on CO or NW, you can upgrade that Y segment (SJU-IAH) now. Y upgrades are available at any time. If you are not an elite, you can do it at the 24 hour mark (I think). The IAH-SLC flight is an ERJ which means there is no first class seat to be had.

Unless you are heart set on going via EWR (for more miles possibly), just accept the change and fly the itinerary that CO gave you.

I don't think that the lack of information is normal: I have always been informed of any changes, even minor changes. Make sure you sign up for all the relevant alerts that Continental has to offer.

So, the fare class now says Y. When you check online does it tell you that you're going to receive 150% EQM's? Getting the extra elite mileage is nice.

It may not be a Yup, meaning that you upgrade to the front cabin automatically. However, if you have any kind of elite status on Continental or Northwest, it does mean that you stand a better chance of an upgrade.

i am not upset about the change of flight, well just a little, instead of arriving at 9:52pm its now 11:28pm, i dont have any elite status, and the EQM's does say 150%, so the possiblilty of upgrade and extra EQM makes up for the arrival time difference. just the lack of notification is more of an issue, but i get all their onepass emails!

My travel arrangements changed recently without notification as well. They have my correct e-mail. The only way I knew it happened was that the reservation did not come up when I logged into my Onepass account.

The other flight is on an aircraft which doesn't have a first class cabin.

You can call CO and change the routing at no charge to one that better suits your plans. Of course, the 11:28pm arrival may be the only valid routing now, but you can play around on CO.com to see if there is a better one. You are always entitled to "reject" a schedule change and either (1) propose alternate flights, or (2) request a complete refund.

i dont have any elite status
In that case, your options for upgrading are (1) use OnePass miles - 7,500 o/w for an upgrade from a "Y" fare, subject to availability, or (2) you will get a free upgrade as early as 24 hours prior to departure, after ALL eligible elite members have been upgraded. #2 is highly unlikely, but possible.
