Only been there once (other than connecting at the airport), and it was way out in nela Park at the old General Electric Lighting HQ, but I stayed down by Playhouse Square. I was pleasently surprised at CLE...not the dreaded "mistake on the lake" that everyone talks about. Good time, nice restaurants, and I really like that area down by the water with all of the bars and eats. Even Playhouse Square has come a long way in the past couple of years - not only is it the largest theatre district outside of NYC, it is quickly becoming a technology hub. The Flats (by the river) have pretty much closed down and will be redeveloped, but there are many other districts and neighborhoods that are doing very well. |

Depending on the date, I may be interested too. |

As for more of a central location, I am trying to make it easier for those FTers who are flying in for the event. I toyed with an event at jacob's field, but the thought of planning those logistics is troublesome at best (even with the rapid stop at tower city). Plus, the Bomb Group is such a spectacular location! |

If we do a jacob's field do then it will most likely require folks dropping checks in the mail for tix. |

If we do a jacob's field do then it will most likely require folks dropping checks in the mail for tix. That said, it's great to have something different and optional to do afterwards, though a ticket-buying event is a hassle and the specific sport may not be to everyone's taste. (I love football, like baseball but hate basketball, for instance.) I vote to keep the Bomber Group as our focus and instead focus on a fun-but-simple-to-organize, after-dinner to-do. (Do you like that play on words?) ^ |

We don't need that crutch, in my humble opinion. Let me remind everyone again that we're on FlyerTalk. Meeting by an airport (flyer) for drinks and dinner (talk) is too ideal an idea to second guess. ^

I'd be in as well for the Bomber Group. As it has been stated before, the sooner the better for picking a date. Schedules get full fast.

Mrs. Xyzzy and I are definitely interested in coming! Of course, it depends on exactly what the dates are. We've already got plans (and CO tix :p )for the end of September and the first half of October. As others have noted, our schedules are filling up fast!

Date suggestions
How about we plan to do it over the weekend of October 21, October 28 or November 4th?
Far enough in advance to avoid the scheduling conflicts but soon enough to beat the holiday rush. Comments? |
We will never find a date that everyone can make. Someone needs to pick a date and that will be that.
