SleazyPass Question

My wife and I need to fly from EWR to PBI for Easter weekend. Ticket prices are high, so we thought we'd cash in some of our OnePass miles. However the only award tickets available for the travel dates we need are the dreaded SleazyPass. On other ocassions when I have looked at OnePass award availability, I have noticed that the availability of Standard awards comes and goes -- there will be nothing but SleazyPass available for a week, and then all of a sudden a Standard award will appear, only to disappear a day or two later. Do you think that we have a chance of snagging a Standard award if we wait and keep watching? Or does the fact that this is Easter weekend mean that SleazyPass is the only option?

Thanks,

ClipperCFX

Highly likely you are SOL on the Std awards but you never know.. so keep looking..

I'm travelling on a freebie that week but not the most favorable routing or dates, I've booked tickets and now keep searching hoping to find either/or a more favorable routing and date of travel

What really sucks is that I have to call the SleezyDesk to inquire about partners and this can get old real quick if you do it enough

High ticket prices usually = zero reward travel. You will be lucky to snag 1 or 2 SleezyPass(tm) seats.

The reason the standard awards come and go so fast is that when they appear, people actually book them........

It is a little late in the game to be looking for standard rewards during such a popular time peroid (Easter weekend from New York to Florida). You might want to try other airports in the New York City area(NYC will get you all the New York City airports) and in Florida try FLL, MIA, maybe even JAX or MCO if you are willing to drive a couple of hours. Or maybe a combination such as into MCO and out of FLL.

Also, some flexability in dates usually helps.

If you are determined to fly Continental metal, you do have to keep checking back on the website twice a day. A Standard seat or two may squirt out here or there, but they'll often be snapped up within hours. It is not unusual to search a dozen different days, times, airports, etc. and never see a single Standard seat.

But -- DL award inventory is much more open, so if you don't mind flying DL and calling the domestic awards desk, you may have much better luck. You can often see some DL options by searching the NW website's awards booking engine, if you have a WorldPerks number.

I just organized some June travel for my mother-in-law, DCA-SEA... scanned the CO website twice a day for a week and could never get a roundtrip together as a Standard award... finally looked on the NW site and saw several DL roundtrips at the Standard 25k level, then called the CO awards desk and they were able to nail down a good DL option immediately for 25k OnePass miles. Give that a try.
