Platinum ELite question

I am a Platinum Elite with only 12,000 Elite miles YTD.
What is CO likely to do?

IMStill4Travel Nov 20, 2003 10:16 pm

You will likely not be Elite next year ..that's all.

Yup, you won't even get Silver.

Yesssirre, you're gonna be a nobody, particularly considering that you're from a CO hub market.

You can still buy Y fares and get EliteAccess. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Last year CO offered some folks in this situation the option of paying to retain status. Based on the way they seem to want to thin their elite ranks I'd guess they will not make such offers this year.

i don't know if i would make such a blanket statement. "cash is king" in the airline industry and i would bet they would make some offers this year.

I'd bet that they *if* they do make this offer they only make it to folks who regularly travel on high fares (ie not me) and who are a bit short.

Hmmm...I'd think they'd prefer to go for the tall folks who would be more willing to pay for the increased status to get the better pitch.
