Last year I received a US 300 voucher because Continental managed to lose my suitcase twice in a row. I haven't used it yet and the exp date is coming up. Any suggestions ?

Book a ticket, perhaps? eBay? The Coupon Connection?

raymond, welcome to FT!!

I see you're based in the UK. Do you come to the US much, or do you have ties here? If your CO voucher is an electronic one, you can pass the PIN code along by e-mail if you happen to use e-bay. If you don't plan to come to the US soon, I can see how the voucher is of limited use.

You may want to see if you can use the CO voucher to book KLM tickets intra-Europe.... or via KLM-UK, maybe even UK domestic. Check the voucehr to see if the voucher is valid for CO/NW/KL. Or you can try to ask Continental by phone in the UK- although rules for your voucher vs. another person's voucher may vary.

Good luck!!

CO vouchers will not be honored on KL or KL/NW codeshares!

Would it work to purchase the cheapest, fully refundable ticket on a US domestic route you can find?

If you purchase a ticket 330 days out, it would effectively give you 11 months to find a use for CO credit. You'd just phone in and change to the flight you actually wanted. You would not be able to cash out the voucher portion of the ticket.

I'm doubtful that you could indefinitely extend the useful life of the ticket beyond the original 330 days by changing to a flight another 330 days out later next year. I'll leave it to CO lurkers or people better at the search function.
